No, you will not be able to get the same amount of oil from Canada; the standard you see today existed only after the oil evolution post WW2, and the deal Nixon made with King Faisal -Saudi Arabia-. That is the only thing that made the Dollar so strong. Without that, America wouldn't have became what it is, go as the experts.

There would be an economic crisis, perhaps, but the other oil producers -- Russia, Canada, Indonesia, Nigeria, Venezuela, and others -- would rake in a fortune at the higher prices. On the other hand, if -- make that when -- the Middle East runs dry, you will see Saudi Arabia slide into irrelevance and probably revolution. I, for one, won't shed a tear.
