Athiest parent sending child to Catholic school

RE: Athiest parent sending child to Catholic school
@Nympha
my cousins were baptised protestant and most certainly had no first communion, so it apparently depends on the individual schools...
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

To the best of my knowledge, a Protestant school isn't along the same lines as a Catholic school. Catholics also typically have Christenings for their babies, not baptisms.

I attended IHM - Immaculate Heart of Mary. It was a huge school in Towson, Md. Many who went there moved on to either Notre Dame Prep school for girls or Calvert Hall school for boys. Both catholic high schools. Luckily, I was transferred to a public middle school for seventh grade and never went to private school again.

On the plus side, I think Catholic schools are pretty good at teaching science, and pretending it doesn't contradict all their nonsense rather than teaching theology in science class.

That's what Religion class was for. Theology.
I remember the nun who taught that actually fell asleep during a test once.

Lol test? How can you have a theology test?

"Well my interpretation is..."

Mind you, English class was pretty much the same as that. That's why I preferred stuff that has an actual answer Tongue

It was fifth grade. The only reason I remember is because all the nuns who were teachers were like 150 years old and very forgetful.

Lol I bet!

Tired of having to teach one thing in one class, and something contradictory in another and pretend it's all dandy.

Nah, I think it probably had more to do with all of that furious masturbating.

I don't think it's a matter of hypocrisy, but I do think if your local schools are that shitty, you should look into moving.

Myself -- I'd rather have moved than sent my son to a Catholic school. No matter the quality of education, the immersion in a quasi-religious environment, wouldn't be something I'd be comfortable with.
