Didn't Trump say that captured troops are losers?  So why would he care if they get tortured?  If they had been winners they wouldn't have gotten captured so if they are tortured it's all their fault.

Right, oh yea, I remember. McCain, the one relatively sane politician on the right who stood up for Obama during his first run, the guy who did get shot at and did get captured was a "loser". Torture may not work against the people being tortured but it works against most of the people who aren't being tortured.  The fact that you know you will be tortured is usually enough to ensure your compliance.  It's the fear factor at work.

That's still not useful, if someone doesn't actually know anything. Which many people at Guantanamo didn't.

Um no, someone puts  a gun to your mother's head, and says "give me your wallet or I'll shoot her", sure you will give them your wallet, but that is not the same as knowing if the wallet has money in it. People will certainly say lots of things under duress. It is also how false confessions can be gotten by police investigations without proper procedure, and that happens without torture.

Compliance to avoid physical pain, does not mean the person you are causing the pain to is telling you the truth, they most of the time are simply telling you what you want to hear.

Well to be fair Trump was simply stating previous American policies regarding our POWs.  As a general practice we have never wanted them back.  Every once in a while we did limited POW swaps but we never made any major attempt to get all of them back.  

Trump has said a lot of things that would classify him as a major war criminal if he ever got any dummies to actually carry them out.  He would go down in history as the first American President who was hanged.

The primary intent for torture is to ensure compliance.  You get compliance by creating fear.  It's foolish to get tortured and then start talking.

No, nothing to be fair about. That fuckwad wile rightfully pointing out that Iraq, was a failure, and included Abu Grab(sp) knew that this far after the fact, even republicans weren't defending Bush. It was a stunt yes, but still dangerous talk in any case.

Rubio is about the only one with a shot. Cruz wont get any minority vote, and Jeb is begging for attention.

Rubio has no shot either.  Especially after he was eviscerated by Chris Christie.    Cruz is more of a psychopath than Trump.

I think Jeb gets the nomination  The Establishment will rally behind him in a brokered convention.

Jeb won't last that long. The Establishment is looking at who can stop Trump now, not who can stop him in July.

You're right about Rubio -- Christie's torpedo was likely fatal. But Cruz will poll well with Xians, Teabaggers, moderately with Wall Streeters, and that will convince the Establishment to throw in the dollars.

The latest NBC/WSJ poll now has him behind Cruz nationally. The Republicans might be starting to realize Trump is unelectable. I was hoping they wouldn't figure that out until after they nominated him.
