I just don't get it

In my opinion it's becouse most of the religious people are told that there is some great power called god while they are at very young age  so they slowly start believing more and more. My mother is very religious but havent taugh me that god exists while I was young so I don't think he exists, everyone has his own mind so he believes whatever he wants.

Realizing this was key in my deconversion.  I started losing faith in religion years ago.  Then, I lost faith in the conversions of people I truly loved and respected.  Then, I wrestled with the idea that so many people were going to Hell for basically not being born into the right family.  It took me a while before I started asking myself if it was possible that maybe I was one of the ones not born into the right family.  Then, I realized that merely being born into a family is not a justifiable reason to unquestioningly adopt their beliefs.

I'm not an expert and I don't know if anyone mentioned it (too lazy to read all the posts) But I think this has to do with cognitive dissonance.
