If he is all loving and all powerful why doesn't he put an end to suffering - hunger, thirst, terrible illnesses? That he doesn't shows that if he does exist he is not all loving and all powerful. If he was he would end it - if I was all powerful I would, and I'm not all loving. If he is all loving he is therefore not all powerful.

Of course your argument will be 'we have free will, it is a test'. An all knowing God would know the outcome of any test so why would he make us go through suffering (obviously he isn't all loving).

These blatant arguments have been used many times before to argue the case that there is no God, and if there is he certainly isn't omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. I don't expect this to sway the beliefs of any theists - you speak a different language.

You say in your definition (your link) that god is love. I agree, but what would you say love is?

RE: Godhead & theists
In your view, what is God?

God is everything and anything in this world. He is all knowing and all understanding, all loving and all powerful. He is everything around us and manifests as such- the key is knowing where to look.

What does God do?

He manifests through this world and its glory to reveal to us our true path in life. He illuminates us to what we are meant to be and loves us regardless of anything.

Are you religious? If so do you follow all of it?

I'm with Einstein on this one- do I follow all of the doctrines of Christianity and follow a completely good, moral, and just life? No. I try to, but I'm only human and I make mistakes. Am I religious in the sense that I observe the natural order and majesty of this universe and connect the dots where the dots are meant to be connected? Most definitely, yes.

Anything else?

A quick look around my hometown proves to me that there is a God. There are things in this world which cannot be ignored or explained away, and a great deal of them are easy to miss if you don't understand what it is that you are looking at. If there is one thing, and only one thing I need to prove the existance of God to me, it is Love.

Everything is god? So that faecal matter you leave behind everyday in your toilet is your proof of god also? Your god's image is turd?

Have to admit, that's a pretty shit god concept Godhead.

The grand poo-bah of everything. He's the reason I wake up in the morning and the reason I go to sleep at night. But not the reason I get bubbleguts on thursday nights. That's Taco Bell.

I notice that you're a christian. I used to believe that Jesus existed, although I saw him as a very enlightened being and not the son of god, I could never understand why god would have a son, it has never made sense to me at all. I have a friend who I talked to about this years ago and he said something about "the word" (in the bible), and when I asked him if Jesus is an aspect of god he said yes (meaning that Jesus is the word). That makes sense to me in a way but I still can't see the need to have one. But I still believed that he existed. But I came across something that completely changed my mind about that, and it took me a while to come to terms with the idea that the biblical Jesus didn't exist. I can show you if you like. It was a shame, he seemed like a nice guy and the whole idea has a feelgood factor to it but I found myself going from believer in Jesus to nonbeliever in about 5 minutes (+ time for coming to terms with it and accepting it). I'd like to ask, if for whatever reason you stopped believing in Jesus, how much would that change anything else?

RE: Godhead & theists
I don't think it would change very much else about me, Godhead. Smile Feel free to share with me whatever it was that made you disbelieve in Jesus, I wont mind. I doubt, however, that I would be very convinced at all by it. And here's why:

When I refer to Jesus as the son of God, I mean that He is the son of God in the same way you or I are the 'sons' of God. As you have stated in posts around this forum, we are manifestations of God, all of us, and whether we choose to acknowledge and grow in our awareness of this dictates whether or not we grow and evolve as people.

However, Jesus was also Christ, the messiah or 'savior.' He is called this because, through His deeds and actions, He set an example of how to best grow in our awareness of our one-ness with God. His path in life was set for Him to be the ultimate show of God's love and His message, and in that way, Jesus Christ is 'the Word.'

Do I know that Jesus Christ, the man, existed as a 100% sure historical fact? No, of course not. That is why I am an Agnostic Christian. But Agnostic or not, I am Christian regardless and I believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Word as being a way to draw myself closer to God. I still retain a rather high amount of respect for other religions, however.

I just tried doing a search but it's in a book (pdf) and I don't have adobe installed at the moment. If you have adobe, do this google search :

"David Icke" "the biggest secret" filetype:pdf

Forget about any ideas you may have about David Icke and just take a look. I can't remember which chapter it is, but it contains the words "pop quiz" (for some reasom those words stuck in my mind). So if you have adobe and you download the book, do a search within the pdf file when it opens (there's a symbol of binoculars at the top next to a search bar) and type in "pop quiz". Then read the chapter where those words appear. The chapter explains how the biblical Jesus didn't even exist, and the reason why.

So I take it that even if you didn't believe that he existed, you still would agree with the teachings. Fair enough, I can't say his teachings are anything but common sense anyway. It would be nice if he did exist but now I'm convinced that he didn't, and maybe you will too. Let me know what you think.
