We prayed hard for it, but it looks like once again, that vindictive bastard didn't listen.

*shrug* I sometimes joke or am hugely disrespectful over particular deaths, but I tend to reserve this behaviour for people who have harmed me personally (I once drove a little over 100 miles to piss on the grave of a barman who cheated me out of £1000. As far as I'm aware, Mrs. Reagan did nothing to me. Sympathies to her family and friends.

Another of those people who, when it is announced that they died, my reaction is "you mean they weren't dead already?"

Wait. Were you a customer or did you run a bar. If it's the first one, I wanna hear the story!

Oh who cares.  For pity's sake.

If it's someone you personally know and dislike,
you're not going to laugh about it in front of those who are genuinely bereaved.

But she was a public figure.

When you accept your role as an upstanding public figure,
nay, even work at presenting a respectable image,
AND  the reality is somewhat questionable,
then, at the time of your passing,
if some people note that your actual character was somewhat incongruous
with what you attempted to present to the world

....then it is because that is what you earned.

She is literally sleeping in the bed she made, that's all.

I mean, how many people did you hear making jokes when Mandela died?

Personally, I never heard a single one.

Mandela did nothing to deserve it, that's why.

People genuinely respected him.

Vorlon is just telling it like it is.  (Or was).

Honestly, you guys sound like a bunch of judgmental Christians jumping all over Vorlon.

And since when did you think that trying to shame Vorlon,
of all people,
with the accusation of "bad taste"
was actually going to make any kind of dent?

And I'd rather be accused of bad taste, than hypocrisy, any day of the week.

Sort of a contract employee. I agreed to waive my performance fee for a cut of the bar. I'd made this arrangement before, and the bar totals always included a percentage of the cover charge. I gigged for this bloke 2 nights a week for six weeks before I found out he wasn't including the door charge in figuring my percentage. When I confronted him, he smiled and said words to the effect, 'You'll know better next time.' Two years (I think) later, he died in a road crash, and I made it a point to pay me 'respects'.

BTW, it became personal during the AIDS crisis.

Additionally, pandering to folks professing Christian values is not a Christian value.  I know, that's a tough one for the modern Christian to wrap their little withered brain lobes around, but it remains true regardless of the number of times they fall for it.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
