Of course, those are two outlier red states you mentioned; most red states are abysmal in pretty much every relevant category.

And they rely on Federal money provided largely by the more successful blue states in order to survive.

FL's median income is actually a function of the enormous disparity between the upper crust and the larger teeming masses who do not have gainful employment.  Were it not for wealthy retirees and beach houses...it would be lower.

I have some experience in aerospace in FL, trouble we ran into..was that chronically under-educated waiters and desk clerks don't provide the necessary labor pool for high tech manufacturing.  We did manage to make ends meet, by sourcing what we needed from the political refugee community, specifically, Laos and other SE Asian countries.  Guess where that money goes, state tax or no? Now, the way Florida lured business there to begin with, was to cut them sweetheart deals on land and cover some of the labor, too. Not exactly filling the states coffers no matter how you look at it. Might explain why florida is ranked at 32 on the list of states recieiving federal assistance, with 1 being the lowest taken. 31% of FL state revenues are, in fact, federal welfare. Monies which they used to cut those sweetheart deals, of course.

Seems to me like you're suggesting that business flee to Florida to suck at the government tit while shirking higher taxes they might have to pay elsewhere, like it already does. That may be a good business decision, but it's clearly not helping the state or it's people. Quarter of the states children in poverty, and a measly 42k median in spite of an enormous coastline literally choked to death by multi-million dollar houses and their obscenely wealthy occupants. It aint tricklin down...and being from florida yourself..I'm sure you appreciate how strange it is when there isnt anything tricklin down.

I guess it's not really fair though to compare Bernie and Jesus.  I mean he's a great guy, but he's no Bernie Sanders.

So again, how is the poor being taken care of?

Show me how it works, because what I understand his policies to be is to make everyone 'poor' and dependent on the government.

All you've done is pandered to the sound biters. I'm not looking for a quick come back, or 'smart' retort. I am looking to understand the fundemental principles of how his plan is supposed to work on a nation wide scale when it fails on a local/state level. when we have systemic failures of this social plan to witness in other countries as well: Greece, Italy are two that quickly come to mind.

How does boin-ney make all of this work? do you know? or is the best you can offer is a mindless quip that does not speak to the issues I am asking about?

Free meaning paid for by people with Jobs, so we have the smartest line of unemployed in the world...

Makes you wonder why the push for "education" if said education doesn't actually do what they say it is supposed to do???

The Chinese have a similar policy on education, (for those who qualify) only that along with Language science and math they also indoctrinate the 'educated' to toe the line on the countries policies and not question the state. The boin CAN'T Possibly want to do the same thing... I can't think of "Eins" socialist "der Staat" ("1 socialist country" in german) that used the educational system to indoctrinate it's 'educated' people. I mean who would dare try?? the whole country would be so 'Sm-aught' and full of knoweledge that no one could indoctrinate any of us... Rolleyes

The irony being that you're probably a great example of the thing you fear, and it doesn't seem to have taken much education to accomplish it.

I truly believe the reason Fl's Median income is lower than vermont is for the fact it's primary industry is hospitality and food service related. (tourism) which tends to be min wage jobs. that said Fl has experienced a big boom in higher paying industrial/areospace jobs with the refunding of the space program.

Eitherway the point stands in that if this country decides to Tax industry as they do in vermont. Industry that can leave will leave. things like the Auto industry, Technology based industries, really anything that can be shipped or provided on line can now leave. which leaves only infrastructure companies. The bare bones of business, food, service, construction etc.. Again look at what a crazy tax plan has done to vermont. They have 1 major company in the whole state that is there that does not have to be there/Not infrastructure.

Verses the hundreds of billions of dollars being poured into Tx and Fl ecconomies because of their tax policies.

If these economies have so much more money, why do their citizens enjoy so much less of it? What's the point then, honestly?

Only for dumb asses. If you are stupid then you have to spend more time in school to become less of a dumb ass.

This is absolutely true.

20+ years ago striaght out of high school I took a summer's worth of trade school and I made 35K as a mechanic my first year. with in 5 i was clearing 80K (could barly read or write) I had a pell grant for 1500 dollars that paid my trade school off. and no other bills. So @ 22 years old I making crazy money because the job market I was in was screaming for qualified techs and everyone else went off to collage to put on a white shirt. Now i run my own business and pay people to do this work for me. The only time I ever spent in college is to repair a piece of refrigeration equipment.

Education has it's place, but it is not for everyone. to pretend that it is the answer to everything is a lie. Education is a crutch/tool rather excuse used to pacify people who simply do not know any better. The truth is we are not all created equal. some of us are smarter and they will always excel while others will always struggle in certain pursuits. The religious aspect aside, Paul tells us were are all like different parts of the same body. We can't all be the same. If we were all a eye and had properties of an eye where would the sense of smell be? where would the sense of taste be? Rather than push this fool's fix of education onto everyone we should be about the business of helping people identify their particular strengths and weaknesses. (helping the eyes see better helping the hears to learn to listen rather than trying to fit the mold/follow the model of seeing the eye needs to take.)
