Where are your hands when driving?

RE: Where are your hands when driving?
In my pickup, right hand around 4 o'clock, window down and left arm on sill working on my farmer tan.

ATV, 10 and 2, and generally, holding on with my Death Grip. (off roading survival trick)

SUV, similar to pickup, except window closed, AC at maximum COLD, and sound system loud enough subwoofer is vibrating rear view mirror into uselessness.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I used to get a lift from this guy that drove with his knees while eating bacon and eggs from a plate on his lap with a knife and fork.
Scared the shit out of me.
Not for long though. Couple of weeks in and he chainsawed his bicep in half.
He recovered, but he has a funny looking arm now. :-)

For country or freeway driving - Right arm generally on door sill with window up (drive on the left side of the road) with my fore and middle finger holding the wheel and left arm leaning on the centre console. Climate control set at around 19 Deg Cent, cruise control on and music blaring

For city or town - Right arm at 12 o'clock, left arm on console or both hands on wheel at 4 & 8.

It's one of those things that I couldn't tell you for sure until I sat down and automatically grabbed the wheel.

But I think I'm a 10 to 2 man.

Mostly 10 and 2, except when driving on rural freeways on road trips when traffic is very light, then it's whatever is comfortable.

I don't bother steering. I just put my foot to the floor and my faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus knows the way.

Grab a Dad's Root Beer in a brown glass bottle, pull up next to a police car at a traffic light, lean it out the window with your arm extended out holding it and say in a drunk voice, "How you doing ossifer?" And no, I am NOT recommending that.

Being an old fart (58), we were taught hands at 10 and 2. I still do that when using both hands. With one hand it's at 12.

With the advent of air bags I understand that is no longer safe. I've heard recommendations of 9 and 3 or 8 and 4.

Where do you grab the wheel at? Or just where do you grab?

Ten and two when both hands are on the wheel. When in traffic I often drve with the right hand on two and the left on the gear stick.
