I almost hope you sell a few million copies, so that when the critics rip you a new ass, and they will, you will go nuts trying to bat down every review that doesn't laud your "genius". Alas, it won't happen, unless you self-publish and buy the whole lot.

No, there's nothing wrong with being oversensitive. Embrace your butthurt, and get a short story out of it, at least.

You've got a nice style and the words flow quite well onto the page.

I would say keep writing but also reading because it will help to broaden your vocabulary and you'll further learn what works and doesn't work.
