It's quite sad seeing the looks on all those innocent little faces.

Were you there?" without reading in the same kind of voice appropriate for "I know you are, but what am I?" I half expect it to be followed by the person sticking their tongue out and saying "nany-nany-boo-boo!" Were you there?" That's when they pull out the bible and cite it as an eyewitness account and insist it has to be true because it's the bible.

Even though she doesn't go to church she still occasionally says "I need to go" because, like me, we were both indoctrinated with the idea that you HAVE to go to church every weekend, or else burn in Hell. Of course when you see the collection plate coming your way, you understand why they say that. I only wish she'd understand that she doesn't need religion. She's a good person without it.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure she is, and it must be very frustrating to see religion still having its filthy claws in her.

Yeah, there's no real reason to need religion, outside of being indoctrinated into it. It's entirely possible to have an awesome support system and to meet amazing people outside of a church. People who will like you for being you rather than just simply being a member of the same team.
I'm very thankful my parents were too busy to make us go to church. The few times I've been have only reinforced how creepy and distasteful I find the entire endeavor.
