I did not mean that as an insult to actual apes.

It's quite sad seeing the looks on all those innocent little faces.

What's funny is when he's coaching children on what to say when paleontologists tell them about fossils being millions of years old, "How do you know? Were you there?"

It's funny because you can ask the exact same thing when a christian preaches the creation story, "How do you know? Were you there?"

Those types of arguments are sooooo.....immature.

Carbon dating > Opiate high theologians' "evidence" on any day.  That's the argument he needs to prep those Christian children to contend with!

Ken Ham should let me coach those children on how to argue for their christian beliefs. Even if I'm athiest. Someone has to train these kids right O.o.

I can't see "How do you know? Were you there?" without reading in the same kind of voice appropriate for "I know you are, but what am I?" I half expect it to be followed by the person sticking their tongue out and saying "nany-nany-boo-boo!"

Agreed and the even sadder part is that the parents are allowing this to happen  Angry

That's when they pull out the bible and cite it as an eyewitness account and insist it has to be true because it's the bible.

This is like my wife.  Even though she doesn't go to church she still occasionally says "I need to go" because, like me, we were both indoctrinated with the idea that you HAVE to go to church every weekend, or else burn in Hell.  Of course when you see the collection plate coming your way, you understand why they say that.

I only wish she'd understand that she doesn't need religion.  She's a good person without it.

You have to be an idiot right from the start to be indoctrinated by the likes of Ken Ham. I mean, seriously.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure she is, and it must be very frustrating to see religion still having its filthy claws in her.

Yeah, there's no real reason to need religion, outside of being indoctrinated into it. It's entirely possible to have an awesome support system and to meet amazing people outside of a church. People who will like you for being you rather than just simply being a member of the same team.

I'm very thankful my parents were too busy to make us go to church. The few times I've been have only reinforced how creepy and distasteful I find the entire endeavor.
