Ha, that is brilliant! Bar-B-Coup. (I was so excited by the end I could barely sit still).
My thougts on this awesome episode (AWESOME).
Yeah, so it seems someone finally figured out how to untie the Meereenese knot. I guess she learned a lot about ruling in her excursion through slavers bay back to where she started. So there is that. Still one big puzzle piece missing, since we saw her fleet burning at teh beginning of the season.
Jon is getting to stretch out from silent brooding type a bit more. Sansa as well, showing some backbone (and both of them showing some acting skills). I almost cried when the saw each other. Ok, I actually did cry, but only a little. They've both been through such hell. And now they can go rescue Rickon together, and maybe take back the north? Nothing ever seems to go as expected though. I hope they don't kill off Sansa now that she's finally interesting!
Also, they quikly answered my question about what Cercei and Jaime think they are doing to gain back power. Religious zealots cause strange bedfellows, eh? The queen of thorns working with them. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all that. I hope the high sparrow (who is marvelously acted BTW), is not killed outright. That would be too boring for such a well developed character. I mean, I hope he dies, eventually, just in an interesting way.
Man, his show turns me into a monster. :p
Who wants to take a $10 bet the we don't get to see the final details of the Tower of Joy until the last episode of the season? That's going to be one of the final shots before we have to wait another fracking year, I'm thinking. "Dear brother, here is my baby, please save him. Oh, And name him Jon", then keels over dead. Cut to credits.
(P.S. And was Tormund just undressing Brienne with his eyes or what? Lol. I don't think she's used to a man looking at her like she's one hot lady. I immediately ship them. Tormund + Brienne. That would rock.
So far, I think episode 2 was the best this season. A full 5 out of 5 for that one for me. It might be my favorite episode EVER (not because of Jon, though that helps, but mainly because of Tyrion and the dragons). This one is second, with a 4.8 out of 5. It moved almost every single plot it touched forward quite a bit, and that in itself made me love it.
The premier is a full 4 out of 5, and 3 was meh+, with some great stuff in it still though (the Tower of Joy battle is one of the best choreographed small fight scenes in the entire series, so that helped it a lot, imo).
Anyway, this season is just excellent over-all so far. Best since Season 3.
I'm so stoked each Sunday to watch it, I can hardly wait for next Sunday already!!!

Here's what I don't understand - has Margaery Tyrell confessed (as Cersei did), or had a trial that verified her "sins"? If not - then how come she's supposed to do the walk of atonement? And if that's just a ploy, made up by Cersei in order to get Tyrells riled up - seems like a feeble one, since upcoming public shaming of the queen would be unlikely to be kept a secret. It would kind of defeat the "public" part...
Did I miss something, or is this just lazy writing?

I don't think it's been announced or scheduled, but it's inevitable. That is part of the atonement process as outlined in the Seven Pointed Star.
I think they all know it will happen, but I think the lying part is that Cersei is hinting that Margaery is about to crack.

I do not think Margaery is going to crack.. She is a player and good at it. She has a plan.
Daenerys on the other hand, it is great to see her grow a pair and get back on course. It will be interesting to see how she handles her dragons being freed.

Jon meets Sansa - Finally, something good happens to some of the Starks! The reunion commences.
Seems I wasn't far off, last week - time to get rid of the Boltons is nigh. I wonder how the red priestess and Davos will fit into this...
From the books,
there was an extra party involved with Stanis - the Bank of Braavos, represented by a fellow in a tall hat... that bank featured a few seasons ago... the army is dead... how will they get their money back? Will the banker ever show up in the show? Or will everyone just forget that?
Brienne remembers how the red woman helped kill her Renly... Interesting power play to be had here...
Petyr Littlefinger - manipulating the "lord of the vale" in front of all the lords... and they just do what he wants. Amazing! Still, it seems to play into the grand scheme of things. I'll guess that Petyr still wants to end up with Sansa by his side, and, at least, warden of the North.
Tyrion, Missandei and Greyworm vs the slavers - Tyrion at his best, negotiating... buying time. I have no idea where the number for 7 years came from. I can only guess it's long enough for Dany to return and use the dragons, while seeming reasonable to the slavers... a reasonable time for them to get rid of Daenerys, that is...
They did like it when Tyrion said that he was raised richer than any of them, in a culture without slavery...
At the end, Greyworm didn't look too happy with the arrangement, though...
Jorah vs Daario - Jorah's the old man, alright.... also diseased....
Margaery - Damn, that woman is tough! Tougher than her brother.... another deviation from the books...
her brother should have been broken from battle at Dragonstone, IIRC...
Meanwhile, the High Sparrow is after what everyone is after in that business - power. (clearly, not wealth)
The red keep - The decision to take care of these faith militant is finally made! Now to see it unfold... "and if it doesn't go according to plan?"... it's almost like that's whats going to happen....
Theon - he's home.... his sister is a tad angry... understandable... But he wants to help her? LOL
Bolton and Asha - First, that knife needs some help... or he just doesn't know how to use it on an apple! Loved his smile when she tells him she's seen worse...
Hmmm... how did Theon know that she helped the Stark children escape?... I don't remember that detail. Still... one less character to worry about.... just as she was almost dispatching Ramsay... How many have come close to killing Ramsay, now, but failed?
Tormund and Brienne! that's all I'll say!
Ramsay does know how to provoke an attack. His got balls... he's got the numbers... But I don't think he's counting on the assistance from the Vale... which will, as is customary in the cinematic realm, come at the last possible minute.... last episode, maybe?

Also... bewbs... yeah, stand there still so it doesn't take much to photoshop your face on that body-double
I don't play the game of favorite episode.... they're all required to tell the whole story.
I found book 4, A Feast For Crows, to be terribly dull, but it was required... to tell the story.

IMHO, I think that initially Daenerys felt that she could take power and ultimately the throne without destroying everything in her path. The camp was her breaking point. She is learning and soon, I suspect, she will become as the others.

While we're talking about Daenerys' pyromania - what was that building made of? Old rags, soaked in gasoline? I guess Dothraki are not big on fire risk regulations. That was an accident waiting to happen...

Hey, it's TV. Anyway, a few pots of burning oil spilt and the silk, cloth, wood and some time lapse mixed in with movie magic. The doors were barricaded and strong, so within an hour or so, it probably would have come down just like that. Also, years of smoking within would have left the walls covered in oils.

I know - I'm just being nit-picky for the sake of it, but...
In an hour or so - you'd think that straw roof would have burned away and collapsed. Surely - before the strong wooden door did...
Also - if they were using burning oil to light the place (and it didn't look like they did - it looked like coals, or was supposed to, anyway) - they would have suffocated within an hour. Ever overheated a frying pan? I suppose they might have magic smokeless oils in that universe though. And anyway - smokeless torches and open indoor fires are a common trope in movies/TV, especially in fantasy.
I don't know - the whole thing looked a bit "convenient" to me. As if the show creators were in a hurry to wrap sh*t up asap - just like they did with the Dorne plot. Which is understandable, since there are not that many episodes left in the run, what with the next 2 seasons being shorter.
