No, you said 'extreme amount of dedication'. Look at the inadequate calcium intake rates I posted, do you think it takes very much effort for teenagers to consume an adequate amount of calcium? Does it even take any dedication on their part? No. It simply takes a small portion of parental guidance that is currently lacking. It's a negative feedback loop. If the parents haven't perceived the need for calcium themselves (and osteoporosis is a silent illness that does not show any symptoms until you have it, it's irreversible and can't be cured); then that attitude is modelled to their children as well.

I think veganism is just too difficult for me, personally.
However, about the preaching, I actually find meat eaters to be the aggressive ones when it comes to this topic. Even mention you are vegan or vegetarian (Like, not in a preachy way, but say, Oh, sorry, I don't eat meat), and prepare to be lectured for 7 pages on a forum, or 30 min IRL, about why YOU are making unhealthy or "trendy" lifestyle choices. Just look at this thread and who is being preachy and pushy?

Look at poor Rob in this thread, he just mentioned it and was bombarded til he left the thread. Sad I usually don't talk about it now, people immediately get super defensive about eating meat (see this thread!). I only posted here because I felt bad for Rob.

At any rate, it is a personal choice. Stop being so hard on the vegans and vegetarians who aren't in your face. Thanks and have a nice day!

If you want to stay true to vegan/vegie lifestyle you need to also look at the source of any supplements that you are taking.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

That would make sense.  In the animal kingdom, carnivores need to be aggressive and herbivores (prey) tend to be passive.
