Inversely, if things don't go their way, why don't they just sue their church instead of the hospitals?

It's dawning on me that you cannot, by its very nature, be religious and not be a hypocrite.
Another reason why even good well meaning christians can be cretins.

At least you took the step toward studying it. I have not been so lucky. I merely love language.

The best way that I can describe it is that while I grew up I was constantly bombarded with English terms. I hated it. I knew how to write and convey myself better than most.

I was never very good at those English tests where I had to point out particular nouns, verbs, etc.

When it came to writing, I aced everything I wrote.

I am simply the type of person who does not need to understand how it works in order to make it work.

This is essentially "Morton's Fork"-like thinking; if X occurs, praise god for X, but if ~X occurs, praise god for ~X. It reduces the concept of "god" to a rather contentless expression of the passage of time rather than any sort of being with agency. It's interesting.

Don't worry, my friend.  If this be the end, then so shall it be.

So basically, praise Whatever. Good thing happens, praise! Bad thing happens, praise!

I can see how people find it helpful to go through life with that kind of attitude, but it sucks for promoting a motivational framework in which we strive to achieve things that actually don't suck.

Reminded me of this. 0:20 to 0:35 for the pertinent bit.
