While I hate that the American people chose Trump and Hilary, I must admit the America bashing is kinda getting old. All countries have their issues. The US is still better off than the vast majority of countries. We have our problems, but I'd still rather live here than anywhere else in the world.

I get a little tired of that routine, too.  Sure.  We're better than most third world countries.  Is that something to pretend to be proud of?  "'Murrica!  Better than Azerbaijan!"

@abaris, we really do need a viable 3rd (and 4th) party in this country. Ideally, the few semi-rational GOP people who recognize the Tea Party monstrosity they've allowed to fester within their party, leading to Trump, will break away. Similarly, the progressives on the left will break from the DNC establishment. We could theoretically have a system with:

Progressives
Mainstream Democrats
Old school economic/foreign policy Republicans (perhaps even aligned/absorbed into the Democrats if it follows the Obama and Clinton platforms)
Tea Party

Now, I'm definitely not expecting that to happen. I give it a <1% chance. But, man, I'd love to see some drama at the conventions for once. Something more memorable than Clint Eastwood talking to a chair.

The problem is there ARE others to vote for America just choses to ignore them. I'm actually not against Johnson from the Libertarian Party and the people that know about him agree he would be the best pick.

You can vote for a guaranteed loser as a protest, I guess.

It isn't a protest it is me voting for the best person for the job. I can't in good conscious vote for Hillary just because of how much I hate Trump. I certainly can't sit back and do nothing because that is worse than voting for a person I know will lose. I can't stand off to the side then throw a fit about the person in office if I didn't even try to have my vote counted.

Saying that voting for other parties is a throw away vote and getting others to think like that will get us NO WHERE! It may not happen soon but if we keep pushing, if we get others to our side one day things might change.
