How Do Christians Know When God Is Speaking to Them?

When "god's" voice agrees with their desires, it's definitely god speaking to them. 

When "god's" voice disagrees with their desires, it's satan trying to tempt their faith.

If people believe that God told them - after prayer - to move, then they wanted to move all along.  This is no different than flipping a coin.  If you're undecided about whether to move, flip a coin - heads you move, tails you stay.  If you're happy that the coin came up heads, then you wanted to move all along.

So, in the final analysis, God's value is no greater than a 50c piece.

If our actions are not pretermined then knowledge of them is impossible. Can't have it both ways. You're just avoiding having to think about the question.

You give God too many powers, he ties himself up in knots and ends up unable to do anything at all.

My neighbor wanted to move so she prayed for god’s guidance and he told her yes, go on and move.

God does not speak to us in an audible voice that we can distinguish from our own thoughts, so how does a Christian know when god is guiding him and when it’s his own desires, fears and conscience guiding him?

My father was a mental health counselor. He took a special interest in people who heard audible voices. The mainstream Church and the pope will hand you over to people like my father if you claim to hear such a voice. So don't even try to go there.

The conscience, or more specifically the selfless conscience is of the Will of GOD. You will be hard pressed to find a main stream Christian that will agree with this though at this time.

Waiting on the Lord is having patience and perseverance in GOD's will, regardless of personal want or tribulation.

If I'm understanding correctly, the brain can perceive things in many different ways based on the individual. Patterns and so forth. For a hypothetical entity to speak directly to our minds, it'd have to send some kind of signal that can be analyzed with the right technology. Something we can piece together like a puzzle and make sense out of. Maybe some form of telekinesis. How would we go about proving such a thing if it did exist?

Perhaps the 'voices' are more of a defect in the brain leading to irrational thinking, or they're confusing God with their subconscious desires to rationalize their decisions so they hold no responsibility for the consequences of the actions they take. 'The devil made me do it,' essentially.

Nonsense.

Christians who actually believe scripture know that literally all will be judged based on their actions.
