Yeah but... that's hardly fair to impose it on people who only say they are Muslims because they'll be mashed up if they don't. Also it's a terrible system anyway.
Obviously this is fucked up from every angle. I'd never go to a country that has laws like this. We need to stop being allies with this place until they learn some basic human rights, and stop getting their rules out of an ancient book.

On the plus side the rapist gets 140 lashes which let's face it, is going to hurt and has a more immediate effect. And she's being deported with only a fine for $824.
Not in any way excusing the country for following a barbaric religion though and having their priorities completely wrong.
Main problem is that it sends the message that women shouldn't report their rape which means that rapists are more likely to rape knowing that there are not likely to be consequences.

I can't wrap my mind around 140 lashes being an acceptable punishment for anything...ever. Even if it was for rape, it's disgusting and morally wrong.
