from getting guns. I am in favor of the 2nd amendment you can have a assault style rifle and 30+ round magazine if.. get this if..
you are responsible and not i repeat not a danger to society.

I am 100% pro gun and I agree with you.  The problem is that a lot of the shooters have no derogatory history.  As to terrorists and psychos, I say shoot them into space for all I care, but the ones that will kill, but have no history to suggest they will, how does one pick them out before they snap?  That will quickly get one into that grey area which will ultimately spread like a cancer.

I am 100% Pro gun as well i am saying the lack of common sense gun regulation
is the thing that bothers me and troubles me is all. Sure good guys have guns
so do the bad ones. The issue here is when and where is average joe concealed weapons guy
when stuff like mass shootings happen? If that was the case if at least a few people had concealed weapons
during any mass shooting then i wouldn't be saying this. The fact is more if that was the case which is not were
carrying concealed weapons things would be different but in cases recently it's not. I am pro gun i am also pro common sense gun laws .

IMHO

Most all concealed weapons owners have the weapon thinking it will protect them, but when the shit hits the fan, they are probably better off without it because someone is going to just take it away from them and shoot them. Most of the concealed weapons owners have no idea what it would take to shoot someone, bad guy or not. If that one in a thousand did manage to get off a shot, it would probably not be well aimed and the perpetrator is now bleeding and in pain. The gun owner is now freaked out and wanting to help the 'poor man'.

As a religious country it has people angry at things that shouldn't bother them.
A gay club should only annoy you if it plays the music too loud.

So, the Charlie Hebdo and the Paris shootings are what??? another day in France? France is not known for it's strong religious ties nor guns, and this very thing happened there twice... So then why do people who attacked those at a soccer game and cafe goers not seem to count as 'people angry at things that shouldn't bother them?'

They do, Drich, but the same thing has happened twice in America since I started typing this. You're comparing a barrel with a few bad apples to an orchard of blighted trees. There's no comparison. To use a parable, most of our peer countries have a speck in their eye on this issue, whereas we have a couple of two by fours and some discarded syringes.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

I was just a young kid when the 911 thing happened. I don't much remember how I felt. I remember I was in science class when it came on the news. Anyways, I mostly try not to think emotionally about any of this stuff. A news story has to be a news story to me. There's too much awful I just can't handle it emotionally to allow myself to really think about it.

I don't feel disconnected with it. I feel sick and even cried a bit. The world is full of messed up people, and it makes me terribly sad and horrified.

I'm tired of hearing that we cannot fix it. Of course we CANNOT fix it if we don't try, or believe we can, and it seems the majority of people have already just given up or given in. Sad

It's something about an obsession with guns which the rest of the world doesn't "get".
That obsession can only be bred out sadly...

Give it 500 years...

According to reports, it appears the shooter was gay himself.

I know what most of you would say, but after 9/11 I did feel the impact of those events. even the Oklahoma city bombing felt different. This happened less than 10 mins from my church and honestly it feels like another news story. I am not suprise at the reaction or scale of reaction from the surrounding communities and the well wishing across the world, but again it's what you kinda expect from a 'news story of this type and scale.

And, before the haters say that I was rooting for the shooter or I think those people got what they deserve, I don't. It is a really bad thing for any one to shoot up a crowd of people period.

I'm not the only one here who thinks this way. Most people I've spoken who live here, have a similar view, in that it was a terrible thing, but like me tend to see this as another news story. I've even asked others what it had been disney or one of the other parks, and the reaction does indeed change at the thought of little children being caught in the cross fire, but this is all very different. Maybe it is because of the speed and willingness the news and politicians are willing to use this event to cash in or spread their views. (Like how quickly the other orlando thread turned into a gun debate) Idk..

So Im posting this to see what you all honestly feel. is this just another news item tailor made for the up comming election or is there/should their be a 9-11 feel to this?

Fine no guns. Dripshit I wouldn't be suprised if there is a christard forum somewhere where you are currently jumping up and down in glee proclaiming that the victims got what they deserved. You're too big on the judgemental sectarianism of the bible for this to be unlikely.

Sometimes even priests say something positive and true.

Quote:For one Florida Catholic bishop, there’s no question that Mateen was influenced by his religion to hate homosexuals — but he also says that this is a problem with many religions, including the Catholic faith.

“Sadly it is religion, including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people,” writes Bishop Robert Lynch on his personal blog. “Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence.”
