Best Qur'an?

Best Qur'an?
I just have a simply question. Which Qur'an is the closest to the original Qur'an or most widely accepted (in english, thanks). Please don't say it's never been altered, that's not what I asked for. And elaborate; why exactly is it thought that that Qur'an is the closest to the original Qur'an or why it is the most widely accepted.

RE: Best Qur'an?
This guy an ex-Muslim really opened my eyes .... with a series of videos explaining Islam .... Its worth watching all the videos in my opinion ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwGYSLeCZs0

Note there are about 13 videos in the series .....

By the way, I could post all the videos so people don't have to go and look? or leave it to forum members to find them ... I think there are about 12 or 13 ... I consider them very informative ...

Let me know whether I should post the rest of the videos please Smile

RE: Best Qur'an?
As with christianity, you should rather look at what early scholars said about the duties of a muslim, especially when it comes to war and the treatment of the survivors. Not at the literal text. The literal text, as with the bible, has it's atrocities, but it always has been open to interpretation.

The text only gives you a rough impression of what literalists think, if you want to call it thinking. But the scholars give you an impression of how many flavors there are, and why you can't apply the broad brush on any religious person. Again, same as with christianity.

I was searching for a Qur'an itself. I already know two other people that do an amazing job at debunking islam e.g scientific miracles etc. They are The Masked Arab and The Rationalizer. I was searching for the scripture itself, but thanks anyway, any information is helpful Tongue

Do you want a quran for the narrative, or for academic purposes?  It's loaded with idiomatic language, and how an interpretation deals with that is the major sticking point between qurans - discounting overbearingly sectarian interpretations, and accepting that there's -no such thing- as a non sectarian interpretation.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

These video's are not particularly debunking but more explaining the message which is quite shocking  ... I don't normally have the patience for these type of videos but it kept me watching ....

I simply want to know which one is the most accurate because I want to be accurate when debating it etc. But I don't think it really matters anymore, they're all modified to some extent, there is no exact copy and they're all vague; open to interpretation.

Ah, well, if it's for purposes of debating it, you really won't be able to have the kind of confidence you need about -any- particular interpretation.  You'd have to take the interpretation favored by whomever you happened to be debating.

But that's kind of the point. The message, as with the bible, is only relevant for the literalists. It isn't for the vast majority of believers, who just subscribe in the same lukewarm way to it as christians do. The Quran is no more or less violent than the other holy books. It's down to people to interpret what they make of the ambiguous texts. Also, same as with the bible, you find kind passages right next to the atrocities. So, again, it's down to the individual, which they follow.

We have christian literalists, and I daresay radicals, on here. We don't have any muslim literalists here. Only naive believers, who try and justify what they believe. In a very clumsy way, I would say.

I listened to him as he was a Muslim ... He isn't the only ex Muslim I have listened too, but I prefer their take than those making assumptions from the outside ... Many ex-Muslims are feeling betrayed by Western Liberals, I don't intend to be one of the betrayers ....
