Your idea is dangerous-- that relative danger is a good excuse to persist in dangerous activities.  It doesn't matter if cars kill 1000x more people than guns.  What matters is that guns aren't really needed, and that removing them from society will result in a net saving of lives.

I've reread his post several times but just couldn't find the part where he was advising the continuance of mass shootings. Is there something wrong with my eyes?

I think bad drivers are more dangerous. I haven't been shot at in years, I almost went into the median barrier recently trying to avoid 2 dueling lane hoppers.

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but if I do, same as I said before. Most likely it would end with a convenience store owner having some brand new holes to show for his effort.

Yes, it is questionable whether the owner is more likely to survive if they draw a weapon. Most armed robberies don't end in someone getting shot: the robber brandishes a firearm, the victim cooperates, the robber runs away. If the owner draws a gun in this situation, they are more likely to be shot, because now the robber has an incentive to fight for their own life...and their gun is already out. OTH, widespread knowledge that the owner is armed may reduce the owner's total number of robberies because at least some robbers will choose to look for easier prey.

Or in the case of a riot, which do happen occasionally, vandals would think twice about looting the store when the owner is standing in the door with a shotgun. As noted by others, criminals prey on the weak.
