4 Officers Shot Dead By Snipers, 7 Wounded in Dallas Protest Against Police Violence
4 Officers Shot Dead By Snipers, 7 Wounded in Dallas Protest Against Police Violence

The cop pulls a gun out and point it at him whilst he's struggling, and tells him not to move. Presumably, and in one of the other angles you can see Alton move his right arm, Alton did move, perhaps to grab his gun, perhaps to try and grab an officer's gun. That's when he got shot.

We'll know more when the official report comes out, but from what I can see in the videos, the cops did try to de-escalate the situation, but the guy was just too big, and was still struggling.

Edit: If you watch the original video again, whilst you don't see it (the camera is pointed towards the inside of the car), you hear two cracks, which I believe are the taser firing. After the cracks, the video resumes pointing at the altercation, and Alton is still standing upright and resisting. It doesn't look like he has been shot at this point.

You obviously missed the point of my other post where I mentioned that there have been several instances of cops having guns pointed directly at them, but rather than shoot the perp, the police de-escalate the situation. Why is it that a man pointing a gun directly at officers does not get shot, but another man gets shot just for reaching in he vicinity of a gun?

Whaddaya know, FNM.  Just yesterday Raw Story drew that same conclusion.

Dylann Roof also *magically* got arrested un-scathed and (I think) got escorted away wearing a bullet proof vest.

And even now after this Alton Sterling video, it's still not enough evidence, still stupid people with their heads buried in the sand throwing out the same old arguments. "b-but black-on-black crime!" "Well if he had just not struggled so much..." shut up

I guess when economy is dying, people are build up anger and stress. Police can risk their lifes even more by being more compassionate to their fellow white man. But when it comes to black people, they often use them as target to unleash their anger(dying economy only makes things worse).

Germany was bankrupt because of the reparations for WW1 victims, which allowed for them to go full retard in WW2.

What a nice thing to do. I'm inspired to do the same. These are men and women whose lives are in jeopardy everyday and feel as though they have no support.

The irony in the Dallas murders is that these officers were killed protecting the rights of the people who were protesting against them.

Actually they were protesting cops who murder people for the fuck of it but I know such nuances are lost on the likes of you.

Clearly there are exceptions to the rule when you are dealing with a copy who is trigger happy.

My advice, which I have heard from numerous lawyers giving talks, is to ask permission to do anything before you do it. If the cop asks for your license, ask them "Can I get into my vehicle to get it?", don't just assume you can. Likewise, if the license is in your pocket, ask "Can I reach into my pocket to get my license?" before you do so.

Whilst we shouldn't have to do these things, the fact that cops get shot at by armed civilians makes them wary of any sudden movements, so always be wary of how any action may look to a cop.

Your advice sounds to me like "be terrified of police" and they already make me really nervous.

A police officer's job is to serve and protect. A police officer's job is not to kill anything that could possibly be a threat to you. Do they deserve to be paid more? Yes. One of my closest friends is a police officer. His daughter is my goddaughter. He's an excellent person. I know a lot of the officers here and I think they're all fantastic. People should never live their lives afraid of the police. Afraid to move around them. It's crazy. What if you have a seizure and they shoot you? It probably already has happened. What if you're a small child with a toy that looks like a gun and they shoot you?

I suppose we need to add, never have a seizure around the police. Always have yourself between your children and the police. Never allow your children to move or have a toy around the police. Where does it end?

How things should be: a police officer puts her/his life on the line to serve and protect. Through following proper procedures we hope they make it home safely every night, but that is not their first responsibility. Their responsibility it to the people they serve.

How things should not be: civilians put their lives on the line when they interact with the police. Through following proper procedure they will hopefully make it home safely to their families.

The civil unrest will not end until there is a change and the people as a whole are not going to accept "be more careful if you don't want to be shot by the police".

To me it's another reason for gun control. In Germany for instance, the police don't really shoot civilians because they already know they don't have a gun. Likely, there are a lot of countries where something like two officers holding a man to the ground and shooting him would never happen. Maybe Mexico...I dunno.

1st white guy, doesn't point a gun at a police officer, he didn't actually commit any crime.

4th white guy, it's a BB gun, the officers knew it was a BB gun because the person fired the pellets first, the officers even said if they had seen the gun first they would have assumed it was a firearm and shot him.

I can't find much on EJ Watson (the third white guy) but if you really believe that he pointed a gun at the police while in a standoff with armed police officers and survived you have more faith in this article than I do.  There's no evidence that he pointed his gun at the police except for this article says so.

5th white guy, another BB gun incident, it's unclear whether they actually pointed guns at the police.  No names are mentioned so there's no way to look into the story beyond the fact that they shot BB guns in a wallmart. Everyone knew they were BB guns, no mention of them firing at the police.

8th white guy Stewart Whitlock pointed his gun at unarmed firemen, didn't shoot anyone.

So really it seems that the article which obviously searched long and hard for white people who got away with pointing guns at the police actually just found a white man and woman who pointed actual bullet firing weapons at the police, the rest were either firing ball baring guns, didn't even point the guns at the police, or pointed the gun at a fireman.  And who even knows about the ones who pointed the guns at the police, if the police were even armed or not.

Here's some statistics from the opposite side of the political spectrum, I don't know if these are as dishonest or easy to debunk as the rawstory ones.

5. Blacks are more likely to kill cops than be killed by cops. This is according to FBI data, which also found that 40 percent of cop killers are black. According to MacDonald, the police officer is 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black person than a cop killing an unarmed black person.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

The reason why this is completely inapplicable to the reality of protesting about police brutality is that both white and black police officers are guilty of police brutality and both white and black people are victims of it and it's happening simultaneously.

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMaVyAkQnJE

When you watch a video like this, of police brutality, hopefully the first thought that comes to mind isn't that the black lives matter, hopefully you have some sympathy for the white person in the video who has beaten to death with his head swollen up, or the other white person left brain dead by the police, plus the Asian man being beaten randomly while in custody or you might notice that the policeman in the video beating a black man until his leg snaps is a black man himself.

Black lives matter is a violent policeman's wet dream.  Instead of one unified organization protesting against police brutality there's disorganized groups divided who believe in prioritizing victims purely based on racial characteristics.
