Is white privilege real? To what extent?

What I'm hearing is that starting a thread about white privilege means I don't want to talk about it.

Expressing my opinion about the extent of white privilege is the same as denying its existence. It also means I don't care about racism.

And that additional information relating to a topic clouds and confuses that topic.

That's odd, because as a non-participant in the thread, that's not how I'm reading it.

No she did not. Nothing implied that you made that own assumption yourself based on nothing and she already explicity clarifiet to you that that is not the case. So if you're not going to believe her own expressions of her true intentions then you're wasting your time.



Sounds to me like you're full of yourself actually. You know when people are subjective, objective and full of shit. You also seem to know what people's true intentions are and you don't listen when they clarify them.

I have seen her arguments and to be honest, you may think very little of me (I am not that bothered) however, for someone who is supposed to be experienced in this sort of thing, it was amateur from her. They discussed the idea, but it was simply a no-win situation for either of them.  One person was stuck with the idea that "white privilege", exists and it does as a personal opinion not just for me, but for many others including Paul, but when he presented his side, it just went back and forth. Yes, I am full of shit, but only after the bolus has taken 12 hours from the moment I put it into my mouth and the moment it leaves the large intestine, unless I have a stomach problem, then it can be less....how about that for humour....

I think I was merely giving an opinion on another country with the resources I had, that is all I can give in my defence. I will stick to what I have said in the thread, but yeah, living in one country and trying to give an opinion on another isn't easy, and I thought it was specifically a general thread rather than being "white privileged in USA thread." My apologies Ryth....

I would agree with you, ofc, that the dynamics of white privilege do not apply in a county in which either the majority population or the majority power demographic is not caucasian.  In those instances, the privileged groups will invariably be those groups with the numbers or entrenched authority to casually and even, perhaps,  unintentionally force their normative narratives.

For whatever reason...it won't tar our "race"...an amusing thought on it's face...since a simple sequence would probably rule either of us out from membership in the Caucasian Cabal. If you want an argument to work you should really stop using me as an example of the things that won't happen to white people because their in the majority.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat this but I lived in a Pakistani community for 31 years, yes I have had to worry about what I say because sometimes I've made a remark it's been said it's a typical white thing to say and white people always say that.

My family has been told that we might aswell sell our house and leave by some old Pakistani who just came to our door to tell us that, I've been punched, called white trash and every other name relating to that phrase.

And that's not to cast a bad light onto the Pakistanis, the majority of the time they're great neighbours and there's worse white majority areas near me to live in, but in 31 years I've encountered some idiots.

So white privilege and all other arguments aside, don't say you know what I've had to worry about and what I haven't had to worry about at least without asking me first. And that's if you want any kind of accuracy or truth to what you're saying.

If I get told anymore about me not having to worry about being in the minority or the prejudice that sometimes entails from that I'll just assume people aren't reading what I'm writing.
