This is the thing I'm tired of explaining to other gays in this discussion; there is nothing wrong, in itself, with having a preference in dating. The "problem" is when you are just being a cunt about it and being downright nasty, writing people off before you've even seen what they are like or what they look like, and doing it so distastefully like this;
And by "gay spaces" I meant when non-white LGBT are actually treated badly in or even blocked from gay bars and pride events. It does happen very often.

That really sounds like an okay thing to do to a whole group of people to you? Really? No blacks? No Asians? No bisexuals? Because of some percived stereotypes, you'll just blot out entire groups of people with out getting know someone as an individual human being? And to be so blatantly rude and prejudice doesn't strike you as problematic? Understand me, I'm not saying you don't have a right to aesthetic preferences. I like red hair. But I don't exclude blondes from my dating pool.

Uh, yeah, it really sounds like an ok thing to do...to tell people who I'm not attracted to, that I'm not attracted to them. I've never been much of a settler. You know that there are alot of people in the world, right...you absolutely can get -exactly- what you want..what pushes every single button.....?
No one has a right to my affection or attraction. There is no equal opportunity program. I want what I want, and I go get it. I'm sure that the skinny blondes of the world havent lost anything on account of my ruling them out...I'd just spend our relationship staring at their darker, meatier siblings.

I never thought I'd say this in this thread but I agree with rhythm on this.
I'm genuinely not offended when I see a white girls dating profile that says black or mixed race only.
Most profiles of women have height discrimination rather than race though.
I've been with black, Asian and white girls.
I wouldn't rule out black girls but I found the Asian and white girls more attractive and that's my preference, I don't blame other people for having a more definite preference that does rule people out.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

How could you fault someone for who they're attracted to, anyway? That's an incredibly insane notion.

You know, hey..to each his own..but allow me to suggest that being schutpped "for you personality" simply isn't as gratifying as being schtupped -could- be. Go find someone that can't fucking look at you, without wanting to chew your clothing off.
I'd be pissed, honestly pissed...if I asked somebody why they were in bed with me...and they said "because you're an awesome person". Well..yeah, ofc I am..but also insanely attractive with an obscenely satisfying package..right, that;s in there too......no? OK, so, pack your shit and get out...I've got work to do. If someone isn't all in on me, I'm not in on them at all.

No one is saying that, I'm saying there's a way to not be an asshole about it. And usually when you hear someone say they won't date this type of person it's because of a stereotype. That's all I'm saying. No is saying fault anything. But maybe you should question exactly why you're excluding certain people, or examine why you like what you like. Everyone needs to self reflect once in a while and think on their choices yes attraction is partial choice built on societal constructs of attractiveness.

Wait what!?
Of course it's ok O_O
Are gay men sexist for saying "men only" on their profile!?
If you add in a racist remark (like the one in Yueaxie's image) that's different.
Are you really saying it's racist if someone excludes an entire race from their dating pool?
It's not because of a preconceived stereotype. Maybe it's just because they're not attracted to <insert generic race here> people.
I am cursed with being attracted to everyone but if I wasn't attracted to a specific race I would be open about it. Furries, if I had a dating profile it would say "furries need not apply".
Being friends is different from dating, getting to know someone is irrelevant if you're not attracted to them.
