His hair has to be photoshopped.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Yeah, I thought there was something off about that image. Couldn't quite put my finger on it.
Gotta be the hair.

What's good about a candidate who thinks shifting all of the tax burden of the state onto the poorest in society is a reasonable campaign platform?
That's what I don't get about anybody who's not a 1%er voting for a libertardian candidate, they are explicitly voting for a politician whose whole raison d'etre is to fuck them over because to use the terminology of Ayn Rand, they're "looters, if they weren't they'd be rich capitalists".

It's not as simple as that. There are certain aspects of the libertarian movement I can subscribe to. Such as civil liberties being untouchable and holy. There are others, I certainly don't subscribe to, such as leaving business to run totally unchecked.
On the whole, if presented with the choice between conservatives or libertarians, I'd vote libertarian any time. For the simple reason that conservatives usually take the bad parts of libertarianism and leave the good parts out of the equation.

Would you look at that.
Another thing we agree on.

He's being lying for so long and so compulsively at this stage I honestly think, like Ronnie Ray-gun*, he doesn't even know when he's telling the truth or lies.
*Ronnie's war time "experience" consisted solely of making propoganda films, and some light document stamping early on, for domestic and UK consumption. By the time he became president he'd been using this filmic experience to claim active duty for so long he'd come to believe that he helped liberate Auschwitz.

Their vision is roughly akin to the US in about 1830.
Canada, Switzerland, the USA, and New Zealand usually make the top 5 in estimates of 'most libertarian in the world'. Modern states are compromises of different views, there will never be a democracy governed by only one political view, only varying degrees of influence.

I don't understand what the common 'libertarian' thread is supposed to be among these countries. Fiscal/economic policy in line with libertarian ideas? Relative absence of restrictions on personal liberty?

You do the work that needs to be done. Actually, you listen to Sanders. GET INVOLVED. You don't like democrats the way they are then do what the fucking religious right did to the republicunts in the 70's and the Tea Baggers did in 2010. Join and take it over. Run for school boards, city council slots, push the party to the left from inside just the way they pushed the GOP to the right.
Voting for Jill Stein or the other shithead is so nice. You may as well pray for god to change things for all the good that will do.
Oh, but that's work, isn't it? The Democrats are just as vulnerable to a takeover as the Republicans were. It will happen sooner or later, I think. Hopefully not by unrealistic extremists who are just the Tea Party's opposite number.
