What are you cooking/eating right now?
RE: What are you cooking/eating right now?
Asparagus potato and cheddar chowder.
So yummy. Asparagus is in season, and such a good price right now. We are eating tons of it, but this is my new favorite thing. I was trying to think of things to do with it, so I stuck it in my summer veggie soup, and subbed fresh yukon potatoes for the spaetzle. Added some shredded cheddar last night, and smoked gouda tonight. Served with toasted naan. Dang, I love good soup.

Immediate gratification - denied.

What cut of pork do you use?  Do you use the oven or a slow cooker or something else?

Shoulder, butt, roast. Slow cooker or dutch oven with the spices/salts (I used Famous Daves mix). Drain, pull and then add the flavoring sauce (BBQ, teriyaki, honey mustard,....) and throw in the oven to thicken is necessary.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

Man, now I want to bust out one of my my Dutch ovens and make something tasty. Best thing ever for slow-braising roast.

Made asparagus and bacon (steamed asparagus, fried bacon, combined in a shallow dish and finished with another 15 minutes in 350°F oven). Also made bannock with half-and-half dark rye flour and white bread flour.

Peanut butter on a plain Thomas' bagel, but the post before me reminds me that I need to go to a local Hawaiian restaurant and try spam musubi. Always sounded pretty good.

I'm curious to know what cut of beef you use to make brisket. I always see it premade in stores but I'd actually like to make my own sometime.

Maybe this will help:

Just had sloppy joes (quick made with canned ingredients).

Got two crock-pots running. One with Mongolian Beef and the other with a recipe that used to be honey-garlic chicken but is slowly morphing into something else. I just can't help but tinker. Smile

Thank You TGB Smile

I guess the next time I go to see my butcher, I can specifically ask for that part. Now to go look up a recipe for it.

Oh and hey... tinkering in the kitchen is so much fun. It's how I developed my vinaigrette chicken as well as my family favorite hashbrowns. Oh - and my fried chicken. I have KFC beat according to my kids.

Gonna heat up some leftover lamb stew and toast some fresh bread to mop it up with.

I haz cheezburger. Lean ground beef, minced onion, an egg, salt and pepper and some old white cheddar, plus ketchup and grainy Dijon mustard, on a crusty roll.
