I'm here with nothing to do and so I thought...why not make a thread full of the glorious ramblings of a stressed out Losty all doped up on meds?
"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her work be praise for her"
A proverbs 31 wife knows that her worth lies in her ability to serve her husband as she serves the lord. A proverbs 31 wife knows that her worth lies in her ability to serve her family selflessly. Her praise is in the work that she does. Doing the work itself is enough to motivate her. She doesn't waste her time on fruitless trivial things, but she works to please the lord. A proverbs 31 wife knows that pleasing the lord means obeying her husband, submitting to her husband, looking to her husband for guidance in being a godly woman, and pleasing her husband. A proverbs 31 wife is a homemaker and she performs her wifely tasks with a smile on her face and a godly song in her heart.
A proverbs 31 wife is the most humble of all women. A woman should always be adorned in the beauty of humility.
What does it mean to be humble?
You or I might say it means having or showing a modest opinion of one's own self importance.
But what does the bible tell us? How does the Greek ταπεινός translate for us?
A humble woman is said to be exalted by being lowly in spirit.
Some definitions: not rising high from the ground, of uncertain derivation; depressed, figuratively humiliated (in circumstances or disposition), base, cast down, humble, of low degree (estate), lowly.
Why any parents would want to raise their daughters to be proverbs 31 women is beyond me but mine did.
What does it mean for a girl to be raised to adorn herself in the beauty of humility by very religious parents?
It means learning your value is low. You are lowly. Be timid. Being timid is an honorable virtue for a woman. Being afraid. Fear God. Serve your husband as you serve the lord. Fear your husband. Learn that fear is a normal reaction to have to men. Don't worry your pretty little head you timid little thing. It's ok to fear men, just serve them...submit to them...please them...do these things because you are so humble. That's not low enough yet. Lower dear. Lowly. Are you embarrassed at your own existence yet? Do you feel yourself flush whenever you accidentally think about objecting to some sort of thing or another? That's a good humble woman.
Live your life to please others. To serve others. Be humble. Be humiliated.
What does it mean to be a humble proverbs 31 woman? It means to lower your self worth so low that you would never imagine to complain as the world around you humiliates you into serving everyone else..into living for everyone else.
Proverbs 31, you are the bane of my existence. Christian humility, why do you insist on continuing to mock me even years after I have left you in my past. You make me feel embarrassed to stand up for my own well being. You make me need to hide my own feelings. You make me allow good people to hurt me unknowingly because I cannot object. I will not.
I am tired of you. You're nothing but a lie someone told me when I was a little girl. Contentedness is not a virtue it's an emotion and I'm allowed to feel a plethora of other emotions just because I happen to feel that way. I don't have to be ashamed to stand all the way up.
