Damned Pervert Priests - and other assorted Holy Scumbags

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Christian college dean had more than 500 pictures, videos of child porn, feds say

The former assistant dean of a Christian college in Virginia was sentenced to prison after he was found with child pornography, federal prosecutors say.

Prosecutors said that Morris, 37, had more than 500 pictures and videos that showed the sexual abuse of minors, with some files depicting infants.

Lame Deer pastor charged with sexual abuse of children

Prosecutors alleged in an indictment filed Dec. 19 that Smith sexually abused four females, three of whom were under the age of 12, between 2017 and 2019 near Lame Deer. In all four cases, prosecutors alleged that Smith forced the females to engage in sexual contact.

On the topic of infants, I'm reminded of a news article many years ago where the father caught the father-in-law raping his baby girl, who was about 18 months old, and killed him. It was ruled justifiable homicide and no charges were laid. Heinous is one thing, but a baby/infant takes the cake. What a world we live in.

Special Report: Boy Scouts, Catholic dioceses find haven from sex abuse suits in bankruptcy

Lawmakers around the United States have tried to grant justice to victims of decades-old incidents of child sexual abuse by giving them extra time to file lawsuits. Now some of the defendants in these cases, including church and youth organizations, are finding a safe haven: America’s bankruptcy courts.

In New York, nearly 11,000 cases flooded state courts, many seeking to hold Catholic dioceses responsible for sexual abuse by clergy, after a 2019 law suspended statutes of limitations that would have otherwise barred many of the lawsuits. In response, four New York dioceses that collectively faced more than 500 sexual-abuse claims filed for bankruptcy. That halted the cases — and blocked those from anyone who might sue later — and forced the plaintiffs to negotiate a one-time settlement for all abuse claims in bankruptcy court.

Youth pastor agrees to 27-year sentence for blackmailing boys into performing sex acts online

Pastor Higgins adopted the persona of a teenage girl on Snapchat and Instagram to meet young boys, introducing himself as “Julie Miller” and sending a photo of an unidentified teenage girl.

In return, Higgins received nude photos the boys took of themselves, the prosecutor said in a statement.

“Immediately upon receiving those images, he would take a screenshot of the victim’s friends list that was visible on the forward-facing social media platform,” Bradshaw said.

“Higgins would send that screenshot back to the victim and threaten to send the nude photos he had just received to the list of the victim’s friends unless the victim did exactly what Higgins demanded,” Bradshaw said.

Then he died!

True story. Back in the '60s teachers were allowed to physically punish children. My eldest younger brother left school after being struck by his teacher, before school was out. My dad went to the school, located that teacher, and had him by the throat, backed into a janitor's closet. "Boom-boom" Baker (college football player) outweighed my dad by a good 60 pounds, who weighed 160, soaking wet. The word was out- don't strike a Fireball family member- just send home a note, they'll get it worse at home. BoT, if we told my dad (if it happened) that a priest had done something, life would have been over, for that priest. My dad was a quite violent man. I still marvel that he didn't go to jail in the '60s for what he did to that teacher. That would certainly be the case, today.

Report finds Catholic church in Kansas covered up sexual abuse of children by priests for decades

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation found that the church minimized child rape with euphemisms, protected priests accused of rape and supported clergy financially after they had been implicated in sexual assault.

In late 2018, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt asked the KBI to launch an investigation following the release of documents by Catholic dioceses in Kansas on allegations of sexual abuse.

The resulting 25-page summary report released by Schmidt’s office looked back 50 years. The KBI said it looked through more than 40,000 pages of records, fielded 224 tips, interviewed 137 victims and launched 125 criminal cases.

the KBI’s report said the agency had identified 188 clergy suspected of committing crimes — including sodomy, rape and child rape.

“The abuses revealed during the investigation had a profound effect on the victims, the families of victims and our task force members,” KBI director Kirk Thompson wrote in a letter to the attorney general accompanying the report. “Those victims, whose lives have been traumatically affected by what happened to them as a child, have shown hope, strength and perseverance in the face of extreme adversity.”

The report says church officials tended to use language that “minimized the seriousness or severity of actions and abuse” by priests. For instance, rather than say “rape,” church officials would say “inappropriate contact.”

“Rather than characterizing a priest as a criminal or rapist, they would soften the language and indicate the priest may have ‘boundary issues,’” the report says.

And for decades, the KBI concluded, church officials failed to report allegations to police and did only cursory investigations of their own.

“Even if the church substantiated that a priest was raping or sexually abusing others, including children, the church often continued to provide the priest housing and living expenses,” the report says. “In some cases priests were able to further commit additional child abuse.”

When I was in Catholic high school some of the guys got the hare-brained idea that it would be funny to poke people with pins.  One of our big (really big) doofus football players poked me in the back in the shoulder blade area.  Instead of a tiny poke, he hit a vein and by the time I made it up to the nurse's office there was blood soaking the back of my blouse and almost down to my waist.  Mrs. Armstrong called in Br. Michael, who was the principal.  After the bleeding stopped, he took me into his office and got on the intercom and paged Glenn to come to the office.  Br. Michael was also maybe 160 lbs.  Glenn was closer to 300 and was about a foot taller.  After Br. Michael screamed at Glenn a while, he instructed him to take off his glasses.  Then he hit Glenn in the face so hard that he nearly knocked him off his feet.  I sat there with my jaw on the floor.  Glenn then had to call his parents and explain to them that they were going to pay for a new blouse for me, dry cleaning costs for my uniform, the doctor visit and tetanus shot I had to go have.  No one argued.  I didn't know monks were allowed to get that mad.
