Youth Pastor Charged With Nearly 200 Sex Crimes Going Back Decades
The state police in West Virginia are continuing to investigate a longtime youth pastor who has now been charged with nearly 200 counts of sexual abuse crimes involving children, many of them his relatives, dating back more than three decades.
A local TV station, citing court documents in Lewis County, W.Va., on the 2004 case, reported that Mr. Radcliff had forced the girls to perform sexual acts on him from 1987 to 1996, and sexually assaulted them in other ways until they were about 12. The victims are all now adults, the news outlet reported.
Mr. Radcliff, 57, who has worked as a youth pastor for at least four churches in the state, is in custody on bonds totaling $1.7 million. It’s unclear if he is still working as a pastor. His wife, Kathy Radcliff, who has been charged with knowing that the abuse took place, has been released on bond. The Radcliffs declared bankruptcy last year, according to state records.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

^And not a drag queen in sight. If conservatives really gave a wet fart about 'protecting children', they'd ban them from church and let them go to drag shows.

‘They covered up child rape’: how the New Orleans archdiocese protected a priest who preyed on children
In the case of serial child molester and retired Catholic priest Lawrence Hecker, the cover-up failed.
But it wasn’t for lack of trying by a coalition of high-ranking church officials and sympathetic judges, who prioritized the predator’s comfort above justice for his innumerable victims until the evidence against him was so overwhelming that – rather than stand the humiliation of a public trial – he pleaded guilty last Tuesday.
Files held by New Orleans’s Catholic archdiocese establish that Hecker was molesting children virtually immediately upon his ordination in 1958. Chronologically speaking, one of Hecker’s earliest victims was a preteen altar boy who described attending nude swimming parties with the priest – gatherings that would culminate in sexual assaults by the attacker.
Hecker eventually instructed that boy to bring a box containing a feather to a particular fellow priest at another nearby Catholic school and church. In short order, the second priest sexually attacked the boy – and the victim said he came to realize Hecker had used the feather to mark him as vulnerable to molestation.
Unsurprisingly, Hecker’s superiors became more than aware of his crimes. Accusations against him piled up at each of the major milestones in the US church’s reckoning with Catholic clergy sexual abuse, which began in the 1980s when Louisiana priest Gilbert Gauthe pleaded guilty in criminal court to molesting several boys.
Around that time, then New Orleans archbishop Philip Hannan received a child molestation complaint against Hecker. Hannan’s response – carried out in private – was to fly Hecker to a sabbatical in New York City before letting him return to work once things back home cooled off.
More such claims against Hecker came in the 1990s, when another Louisiana priest – Robert Melancon – was convicted of raping an altar boy. The ensuing pressure prompted Hecker to confess in writing to church officials that he had sexually molested or otherwise harassed several children whom he had met through his ministry.
This time, Hannan’s successor as archbishop, Francis Schulte, was in charge of responding. Schulte sent Hecker to an out-of-state psychiatric care facility that diagnosed him as an incurable pedophile who should not work with young people. Upon Hecker’s return, Schulte assigned him to work at a church with a grammar school attached to it.

In some ways, I think the cover up is worse than the original crime, the cover up allowed more victims to suffer.
I wish everyone involved a long and miserable life, followed by a slow and painful death

Catholic school principal's disgusting behavior after boy was raped by priest during wrestling practice
A Catholic high school principal threatened a teenager who had been raped by a priest with expulsion if he did not see a psychiatrist for 'anger issues and fantasy stories', according to the victim's testimony.
The anonymous former student at St John Vianney Prep in New Orleans said he was 16 when he was raped in 1975 by Lawrence Hecker, who was around 44 at the time.
On top of the horrific sexual abuse, the victim's attorney Jason Williams said his client, now 65, was gaslit and even blamed by former principal Paul Calamari when he tried to report the rape.
Hecker left the ministry in 2002. He now faces a maximum sentence of life in prison after pleading guilty to the sexual assault on Tuesday in a shock admission moments before jury selection was set to begin.
Hecker placed the pupil in a chokehold from behind and raped him as the terrified boy tried to fight him off before eventually losing consciousness.
The victim said that when he regained consciousness a long while later, he discovered a wet patch on the back of his shorts, prompting him to discard them.
Hecker, now 93, was able to get away with his horrific crimes for decades thanks to a complex cover-up orchestrated by powerful members of the church, according to court documents.

$950,000 settlement to be paid to latest person claiming abuse by Fr. Daniel McCormack in Chicago
The Archdiocese of Chicago has agreed to pay $950,000 to another person who said they were abused by the Rev. Daniel McCormack.
A lawsuit filed by attorney Lyndsay Markley claimed that in 2004, the plaintiff in this case was sexually abused several times by McCormack while participating in the SAFE, or St. Agatha's Family Empowerment Program, at St. Agatha Church, 3147 W. Douglas Blvd.
McCormack is alleged to have molested at least 25 boys. He spent two years in prison, and then the remainder of his sentence was served as a state-run mental health facility after being deemed a sexually violent person.
He was released from that facility about three years ago.
McCormack used his position as a priest, teacher and basketball coach to abuse boys in his care.

Drugged, raped, sexually assaulted during confession tell how California Catholic priests committed atrocities on children.
Quote:Several clergy abuse victims confronted the Diocese of Oakland’s bishop in a U.S. bankruptcy courtroom on Friday, describing in searing detail how they were groomed, raped and “terrorized” for decades by Catholic priests across the East Bay.
The testimonials capped a two-day hearing for 15 clergy sexual assault victims to air their allegations in court while the Diocese of Oakland seeks to settle roughly 350 lawsuits filed against it in recent years. Last month, the diocese’s proposed paying at least $117 million into a trust for those victims over the next several years — an offer the victims’ attorneys roundly panned as “a scam and a sham.”
One woman described being molested by a priest during a confessional in Pinole while just 7 years old, leading her to use drugs to numb the memory of the encounter. Another person said he “stopped at that young age learning how to dream” after allegedly being raped as a child and suffering an anal fissure. The injury continues to cause medical issues for him all these decades later.
Often, the victims recounted growing up with devout Catholic parents who — despite meager incomes — used what little money they had to pay to send their children to Catholic school. They were usually told that priests amounted to direct representatives of God, with their words serving as law to parishioners.
One woman tearfully described being repeatedly disrobed and molested by a priest, causing her to grow “resentful and angry,” while she became “a shell” of her “former self.” Thoughts of having to undress in front of a doctor led to her not wanting to have children.
That trauma persisted for decades, and reemerged when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She lamented how the disease could have been caught earlier had she not been fearful of being touched by a physician.
Friday’s hearing came as the diocese winds its way through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, which began earlier this year as the church faced a flood of lawsuits alleging widespread sexual abuse among clergy.
Thousands of other lawsuits have been filed against other dioceses across the state, leading to similar bankruptcy filings by other Catholic church leaders. Victim advocates have steadfastly condemned such bankruptcy filings, noting how they effectively pause any litigation while bankruptcy judges review each diocese’s finances and assets.
