I sincerely hope that man can someday feel what victims have felt. I'm genuinely hoping for bad things upon a human being, and as much as that makes me feel badly, I don't take it back. Let me just say one thing... that I never even said that about the rapists that I know. It took a shitty last few weeks topped by this man's careless remarks for me to wish bad things upon another human. Gawd. Fuck your morality. Fuck you and your ASK, and your arrogant ways. Um...wow.  There are many...MANY reasons women don't report assaults.  Shame.  Embarrassment.   Fear of not being believed.  Fear of being BLAMED.  Fear of the rape exam, which is just as painful and degrading as the assault its self.  Fear of their attackers.  Fear for their LIVES if their attacker has threatened them not to tell, or threatened their families.  Fear that they will subject themselves to a lengthy, mortifying trial only to have their attacker get a slap on the wrist.  Fear of bullying/ridicule/scorn by the community, especially if the accused is well liked/well known.  The sick feeling of having to verbalize what was done to you over and over, which amounts to being violated all over again. And of course, all these reasons are magnified when the victim is a very young person.  The fact that you would even suggest such nonsense demonstrates that you either don't fully understand the nature of the crime of rape, or you don't take it seriously.

I am sure cosby crossed the line somewhere, not the point. The point is the reason for the statue of limitation is found with cosby's case. The reason being you can not prove intent on either party's side.

Time is the ONLY, not the best, but only measure of intent.

Yes people like nymphoria and K1 will fall through the cracks, but again in the vast majority of cases time will flush out the truth behind a person's intent.

Of course I don't know for sure that all 50 were telling the truth. Of COURSE some women lie about being assaulted. For lots of reasons, including the ones you just mentioned. And it's despicable. Rape doesn't happen in a vacuum. It's not just done, and then gone. The attacker is usually someone entrenched in the victim's life. Indeed, that's an underpinning of rape - it's not just a sexual attack, but one that exploits the power disparity between attacker and victim. The attacker usually acts because they're confident they can get away with it. And, in the most cases, they feel that confidence because things are arranged in such a way where the victim either fears retaliation or simply that no one will believe them.

So trying to present it as "If they didn't report it immediately, it didn't happen" only illustrates that you don't understand rape at all.

Maybe, just maybe... I've lived through enough shit to know pity/your way does not work... God aside, we live in a culture of victims, and for most anymore that is all people want to be. And if by God's grace you live through a real event that genuinely made you a victim, it like you won life's get out of responsibility card.

I think the worst thing about him is his utter lack of self-awareness.  His beliefs are obviously terrible and terrifying, but he never engages in any introspection whenever people justifiably recoil from him.  He considers himself blessed by his god, and thus by definition in the right.  If he was living in the Middle East, he's the type that would gleefully have child brides and relish decapitating kidnapped civilians.

Then this became an argument about specifics/people falling through the cracks. (her specific situation, and how my logic did not work) Then I spoke about the merits of not coddling victims, but help them truly recover. Then I made a parallel between how she dealt with her situation as a victim and how i have dealt with my own. The primary difference She is forcing herself to relive her attack, and I can speak about my instance without pause. I even pointed out that all the nasty stuff being false ascribed to me was actually used against me. (all the monstrous things you all claim I have said, were point blank said about me and my family) yet here i am.. I was not forced to relive those events, but rather use them as examples to show the difference between being a victim and being a survivor. I've have healed from my wounds and are not controlled by events in my past...

Who doesn't want those things?

So, Before I said word one I considered the depth I'd have to go and what I may be asked to reshare, and carfully considered all of it.

Here's the real difference.. I make my decisions based on the long term good not the immediate want or emotion. You guys are a bunch of monkey men who are only driven by what makes you feel good or bad with no thought to the future.

My concern is for a person's long term well being not what they think they need in the moment, but the freedom from the evil visted upon us by evil men.

I've lived through a hell of a lot more, for a much longer drawn out time, with no support or help, and found my way through it all (in the later years) with the direct help of God. Yes I am different, but at the same time I can indeed work in both your little world and in the broader one to pretty good sucess.

I simply can choose to "cry with the monkey men" I don't have to chain myself to being a permanent victim inorder to shed a tear.

If someone told 14 yearold Drich you didn't have to be a victim/You didn't have to relive your hell, you can be incontrol and all you need do is A, B, C... I'd jump at the chance.

Ok, I'd like to jump in here.  Originally the statute of limitations was set because of the difficulty to prove the accusation after a prolonged length of time, however there were also exceptions allowing the statute to be extended in instances of DNA evidence linked to the accusation.  

Drich is completely wrong here IMO.  Waiting 5 years to report someone kicking you in not the same as rape.  Being a victim of sex abuse myself, I know first hand the psychological toll it takes and the thoughts and emotions involved.  There should be no statute and there are increasingly more states bringing laws and passing them to drop, extend and amend the current statutes.  We are seeing progress because there is more awareness in to this incredible epidemic facing our country.  All sexual crimes should be indictable at any point so long as the evidence is strong enough to indict.  To put a timeline on it is wrong.
