So if you like convos in voice, or even video, instead of text...

Skype > Slack

Also if you like convos with less lag...

Skype > Slack

Slack doesn't lag for me. I prefer it because it is quite similar to IRC.

Meh, it doesn't really bother me. I personally don't do voice calls anyway.

Slack is much better than Skype IMO.

Only if you don't like voice and video calls.

If you like voice and video calls Skype is clearly the better option.

So your opinion only applies to your personal taste of not being fussed with voice or video calls and those who also share that personal taste, yeah? [emoji2] [emoji106]

I haven't used slack enough yet to know it or get much of a feel for it... and it's always been quiet when I've gone in... but it is kinda cool that as soon as people disappear you can just start playing games with Darwinbot. But I take it from this thread that it's not so quiet any more... it's starting to take off?

Yeah Slack is active the AF Skype Room isn't.

Slack doesn't lag for everyone but it does for me and maybe some others (I dunno if it's just me).

AF Skype Room has voice and video calls which I miss.

If all you want is text, Slack is better, provided it doesn't lag for you more than Skype.

If you also want voice and video calls, Slack isn't an alternative for that... but it's still nice.

I just miss the Skype group calls and I love how Skype almost never lags.

Facebook messenger also lags more for me than Skype. I love Skype so much because it barely ever lags and it does text, voice and video.

And not only does it lag less than Facebook... it's without the annoying wall posts of constant memes.

I'd prefer Slack if it didn't lag for me and if it had voice and video.

Then it would have the advantage of AF Usernames and the awesomeness of Darwinbot but without the lag and with voice and video calls! That would be awesome! That would be much better than Skype for an AF chat group.

The only reason Slack lags for you and Skype doesn't, I would guess, is that you have a Windows phone or a slow connection.

Most people don't like the voice/video calls. I get that you do. Slack does have an option to call others, but not groups, unless you get the premium version. I have no interest/time for that. Slack is a pure chat app, which is all I want for a group chat area. I like that it is like IRC. I can schedule sleep time for notifications in Slack. I can more easily sleep notifications in Slack outside of my scheduled sleep times. I also use Slack for other things, including professionally, so I am in it more than Skype.

I like the different rooms in Slack. I like that it is web based as well as app based. I can sign in on any computer, I don't have to have a Windows app installed, and the web app actually works, unlike Skype, who tries to funnel all of their activity to the Windows app.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

PM me your email address to join the Slack chat! I'll give you a taco(or five) if you join! --->There's an app and everything!<---

Well, I do have a Windows Phone but I almost never use it.

I also have a slow connection though so that would be it then Tongue

Am I the only one who does, do you think?

Am I the only one who enjoyed the group Cards Against Humanity voice calls?

Which is fine! I just wonder if I'm alone here with the enjoying the group voice calls we used to have.

Fair enough. I find it more boring that voice.

Me too.

Yeah. So we differ there.

This is all me about wondering if I'm the only one who misses the AF Skype Group calls! Am I the only one? All this time I thought everyone loved it as much as me Tongue

Yeah that's all awesome.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Slack and I think it's awesome, and it's been lagging less lately... and even with a little lag on my side... it's STILL awesome.

I just really really miss the AF Group Voice Calls... and I didn't realize I was the only one who loved them so much. Am I the only one who absolutely loved the fuck out of all the AF Group Voice Calls on Skype? It felt so much more real and sociable to me. I love hearing my friends speak.
