Your thoughts on the protests

RE: Your thoughts on the protests
I guess there are riot police blocking the protests here now... right next to me. Lovely. So much for civility.

I get the expression of raw emotion, shock, and anger. I won't be joining any, because I don't see the point.

The Evangelicals sold away every bit of integrity they had, and they doomed the GOP for it forever by legitimizing the white supremacist movement that is happening within Trump's supporters. I am most angry about that.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

They aren't being Uncivil Whatevs.  No rioting.  Just peaceful protests.
If they WERE burning cars and breaking windows, I'd be appalled.  But in 9 major cities and many smaller ones these are happening, and all have remained peaceful.

Well that is good news.  I guess I got the wrong impression.

I think the protests are ridiculously dumb at this point since all they will do is raise the tension that is already through the roof. This one at least is not at all violent, but it still isn't helping anything. I was trying to go on a walk to calm my own anxiety and everything around me just made it worse.

I was thinking the same thing.  Yet I still sympathize.

They needed to mobilize BEFORE election day. Day late and dollar short now.

It seems they were in precincts that didn't vote trump.  How would you suppose they should have mobilized BEFORE Election Day?   Their only deficit is they suffered from the common misconception that on average Americans elsewhere were mostly not unusually indecent.

About the only valid reason I can see to go out and protest is that Hillary, Gary and Jill didn't receive participation trophies.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

How about to make the country as ungovernable under republicans as the republican would wish to make the country had it been the democrates who received the mandate, bequeathed by this very self same rickety system and debased electorate, to govern?

RE: Your thoughts on the protests
As long as they're peaceful, I support them.

I have five daughters, and not one of them understand how a sexist racist bully could be elected President. They don't understand how we've not yet had a woman President, and they don't understand how people could have selected this bully. One of them said that even they know not to vote for a bully.

I'm glad to see some people are willing to protest the Presidency of a bully--so my children know that a lot of people don't support bullies. I think it's important for them to see that.
The whole tone of Church teaching in regard to woman is, to the last degree, contemptuous and degrading. - Elizabeth Cady Stanton
