Very apt, lol.

Martin's response to the whole thing"

Quote:"America has spoken. I really thought we were better than this. Guess not. Trump was the least qualified candidate ever nominated by a major party for the presidency. Come January, he will become the worst president in American history, and a dangerously unstable player on the world stage.”
“And the decimated Democrats, a minority in both House and Senate, do not have the power to hinder him. Over the next four years, our problems are going to get much, much worse.”
“Winter is coming. I told you so.”
I was out of touch.  I did think we had become better than that.  A lot of people thought he was such an obvious monstrous joke, it was inconceivable people would vote for him if they weren't bigots (particularly when it is quite clear to anyone with 2 brain cells that he WON'T be helping the middle and lower class get jobs or better wages).  So those who voted for him and are not bigots are just easily fooled and stupid.  They voted against their own interest, and against everyone else's well, just because they be mad bro.  Yep, I was shocked by the level of stupidity and bigotry combined.  Thanks for educating me, America.

So the middle class whites are the ones who broke for him, including educated males.  Their reasoning is supposed to be that they are struggling so much, they couldn't afford to care about the racist, xenophobic shit. Oh, I'm not racist, I RELUCTANTLY voted for the racist guy endorsed by the KKK.  Yeah, whatever.

The middle class whites didn't break for him, actually, lol.  The upper and lower end of whites did (but much more than that, the rurals).  On the idea that they could swallow all of his other shit so long as he could get them mo' money.  To hear them tell it, at least.

I know better, though, because they're my people...and I've -always- known them and every little suppressed hobgoblin of their minds has been clear to me since childhood, lol.  It wasn't just the money that will never materialize.....

.....all that other shit stroked something the left had told them was dirty.....and it felt soooooo good, especially since somebody else was saying it, and they didn't have to deflect the criticism personally. That's what all this "PC" shit is about. Wink

Well, I'm not sure how to define middle class, but my source was:

The census Bureau defines middle class above the $30k line, below the 100k line, roughly.
So yes, between 30 and 50 did break for clinton, but everyone in the demographic who made over 50k went (though only slightly) for Trump.  It was actually close to 50/50.
Those who made under $50k went Clinton.  I have other sources that say the same thing.

Seems like poorer people actually went for clinton, and the more middle class and well to do for Trump, though barely

Since we can see that nonwhite educated people overwhelmingly voted Clinton, I can see racism played a factor.  When the educated whites where closer to 50/50, they still went trump.  Though if you break out white women:

White women
43 Clinton
53 Trump
White women college graduates
51 Clinton
45 Trump
White women non-college graduates
34 Clinton
62 Trump

White women in general still voted Trump (thanks ladies), though educated women went for Clinton.  Non educated women overwhelmingly went Trump.
But we do know women can be just as sexist against women as men, so I'd still say it's pretty clear that sexism is a factor (looking at the college educated number of female's vs college educated males).

I'm probably just rambling at this point, lol.  There's so much info to process.

So  check my chart up there, turns out that a big myth going around.

The poorest people were the strongest for Clinton, if you just take income and nothing else into account.

The poor whites went for Trump, completely true, but income alone, without race and gender included, poor folks voted Clinton

Yes, lower end -whites-, lol.  The two cannot be fully understood without reference to each other.  Yard art types, pink flamingo fetishists, red hatted gnome afficionados.  Wink
(it's the only type of public art they can afford to appreciate, lol)

Let's not forget -these- guys....

Let me just ask, lol, at this point...is anyone else as amused as I am... at how desperate we are to find some bit of the election that's -not- down to plain and base hatred of the other™?

We're scouring stats and charts, even the trumpsters are doing it, looking for some reason, any reason, anywhere and from anyone..... to fucking excuse ourselves -even if only partially-.... for what we -all- know to be true, lol.

Now, the alt right, let's be honest...there's no right anymore...when we elected Obama, were screaming this at the top of their bigoted little lungs, but now, crickets. I guess all that leftist propaganda really -did- work. They can;t even acknowledge what they wanted to be true in the first place, not even when they get it.
