Right...so where was the apocalypse of gun ownership that people said was going to happen under Obama?  It's just as easy to get a gun now as it was before Obama was in office (excluding some state or city regulations, which aren't federal to begin with).

I'm saying that Obama was never going to take our guns, that's just what people were sold - and that's what drove up gun sales, nothing that Obama actually did.

And it's not like a president actually has the power to ban guns anyway.  That's why I thought all the fuss over "Hillary's going to take away are guns!" was just more right wing propaganda nonsense.  It takes Congress passing a law to restrict gun ownership, a law which could easily be overturned with a conservative Supreme Court.  But there's no indication that Congress is even interested in tightening existing gun laws, let alone passing an outright ban.

It's like I've said before, if we're not going to get serious about restricting gun ownership after some idiot shoots up a school and murders a bunch of kids, we're never going to ban guns outright in this country.

A government agency came and took my best gun away. They do it about once every two months. They bring it back with big grins on their faces.

In my country, the police sometimes takes away gun permits and the guns. When the person in question acted erratically or attacked someone. Not necessrarily with their guns. It's called protecting the society. If someone shows signs of being unstable, better remove their weapons and recall their permits. I wouldn't want it any other way.

It's the same here over in the UK.

Why does Donald Trump cry during sex?

Pepper spray does that to you.

This segue nicely into a call from the NRA I received this past weekend.

I purchased a new hunting rifle package a couple months ago at Cabela's.  My rifle came with some shitty NRA sign up material which promptly went to the garbage.  I'm guessing anytime a gun is purchased the NRA propaganda department gets instantly notified which is why they contacted me.  It just so happens that earlier in the day I used my new rifle for deer hunting.

NRA : Sir, do you have a moment to listen to a message from our vice president Wayne LaPierre

Me: Sure, this will be good.

The message was a recording of Wayne looking for my support by becoming an NRA member.  You see Obama in his last months in office is going to declare war on the second amendment and take our guns away.  The NRA needs my support in stopping him.

After the message the person come back on the phone.

NRA : Sir, what did you think of the message?  Do we have your support?

Me: Laughing..  So now that Mr. Trump is president, your worried that the crazy gun nuts aren't going to be as inclined to hand over their money to you.  You've got a small window of opportunity here to spew some fear mongering bullshit and score a few paying members before the well runs dry.

Me:  I'm a gun owner as your probably aware.  In fact I used my gun the morning to do some deer hunting.  The last thing I'm afraid of is someone taking my guns.

NRA : Long pause..  Thank you sir, ummm....  What do you think the NRA should focus on?

Me: When I was in high school, the NRA was an organization that taught hunting and gun safety.  I'm guessing that doesn't fire up the troops and get the money flowing like claiming the government wants our guns.

NRA: Click...
