Okay then.

Not many fully functional M2 .50 cal. Browning heavy machine guns around. The good lads who borrow it call it "fam fire", just in case, you know. They always return it with a few boxes of ammo. I never ask what they're doing with it, but I wind up with some very nice armor-piercing ammo.

And if you're wondering, one of them is a cousin.

They can call all they want.  LaPifuckhead can take a pay cut if they need the cash for more fear mongering ads.

I purchased a new hunting rifle package a couple months ago at Cabela's.  My rifle came with some shitty NRA sign up material which promptly went to the garbage.  I'm guessing anytime a gun is purchased the NRA propaganda department gets instantly notified which is why they contacted me.  It just so happens that earlier in the day I used my new rifle for deer hunting.

NRA : Sir, do you have a moment to listen to a message from our vice president Wayne LaPierre

Me: Sure, this will be good.

The message was a recording of Wayne looking for my support by becoming an NRA member.  You see Obama in his last months in office is going to declare war on the second amendment and take our guns away.  The NRA needs my support in stopping him.

After the message the person come back on the phone.

NRA : Sir, what did you think of the message?  Do we have your support?

Me: Laughing..  So now that Mr. Trump is president, your worried that the crazy gun nuts aren't going to be as inclined to hand over their money to you.  You've got a small window of opportunity here to spew some fear mongering bullshit and score a few paying members before the well runs dry.

Me:  I'm a gun owner as your probably aware.  In fact I used my gun the morning to do some deer hunting.  The last thing I'm afraid of is someone taking my guns.

NRA : Long pause..  Thank you sir, ummm....  What do you think the NRA should focus on?

Me: When I was in high school, the NRA was an organization that taught hunting and gun safety.  I'm guessing that doesn't fire up the troops and get the money flowing like claiming the government wants our guns.

NRA: Click...

Yeah, they call me after each purchase. I'm not sure who they are data mining. I've always hung up on them.

About 5 years ago I joined the NRA for a year. I wanted a first hand look at what they were pushing. Other than technical reviews there was a lot of scare tactic articles. I still get yearly mailed notices.

I just checked 4 of the gun/ammo sites I frequent. Gun prices remain the same pre and post Trump. Cost of ammo that I purchase for the range is up 3 to 10 percent.

I had the same NRA call a while back.  (after 11/8 though)

After listening to the Frenchie's agit prop and the guy came back on, I intoned gravelly that I was sorry he hadn't heard Trump had won, and that I still thought he was fucking nuts, and I hung up

BTW, I've only bought one firearm in my life, it was an unregulated private sale, I bought a Marlin 22 rifle as I recall, it was around 1978, and I gave to to my super hunky boyfriend at the time, hoping it would earn me a thorough buttfuck, and it did.

Somehow, I don't think the circumstances surrounding that gun sale are anything close to what the NRA thinks might be covered by the 2nd amendment . . .

So, what excuse will the ardent gunners be using now that the government isn't coming for their guns. I'm sure NRA has a backup contingency. Maybe "Have you seen a non-white in your neighborhood? If so, you need MORE GUNS!!!!"

They will continue to use "the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun".

"the only way to stop a some  guy who may or may not have a gun (and who cares, I got to shoot somebody, so fuck due process, I'm channeling Judge Lynch!) is a good guy with a gun".

Quote:While Trump’s unapologetic pro-Second Amendment stance may be good for gun owners, it has already dealt a blow to manufacturers, who enjoyed record sales throughout President Obama’s eight years in office. Stocks in companies like Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger & Co. plunged on Nov. 9, and experts say it is because Trump’s election erased fears that guns would become harder to get.

This is not a bad thing as .80 per 5.56 round is far too much to pay. bring back the .15 or .20 cent per round days!!!

You're buying your ammo at the wrong place.
