Mark and John don't agree which day Jesus died on.
Figured all the Christers knew that . . .

John has Christ dying sometime after noon on the Day of Preparation for Passover. Mark has Christ dying around 9AM on the day Passover.
That's why I think Christ was crucified twice. It's the ONLY way to make sense of the Gospels.
It doesn't seem like a problem to me, the Romans wanted to make good and sure they killed him. Do it twice, and there is no doubt.
It clears up another problem too, one time they used 3 nails to put Jesus on the cross, the other time they used 4 nails.
I'm so happy to have cleared up that mystery for everyone.

Mark 15:42 - "When it was already evening, since it was the day of preparation, the day before the sabbath"
John 19:31 - "Now since it was preparation day, in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken and they be taken down."
Luke 23:54 - "It was the day of preparation, and the sabbath was about to begin."
Matthew 27:62 - "The next day [i.e. the one after Jesus died], the one following the day of preparation,"

John 19:14, Pilate pronounces the sentence around noon on the Day of Preparation for Passover and Jesus is crucified that afternoon.
In Mark, Jesus somehow survives that and gets to have the Passover meal with the disciples, is arrested and taken to jail and tried first thing in the morning and executed at 9AM. On Passover.
Remember, there is a sunset involved, after sunset is the 'next day'. It's an easy mistake to make.
Jesus was crucified twice, obviously.

Oh, if you're still confused, recall technically, the Day of Passover is also the Day of Preparation for the Sabbath.
Just remember the days change at sunset.
You know, the church probably should have stuck to that tradition. Then you'd also be doing mass on the right day of the week too. Honoring the Sabbath, and all that. I think there's a commandment on that too . . .

1) True (John has Jesus sentenced by Pilate around noon - John 19:14-16)
2) False (Mark has Jesus crucified at 9 am, but dying after noon.)
Mark 15:25 - "It was nine o'clock in the morning when they crucified him."
Mark 15:33-37 - " At noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. And at three o'clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" . . . Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last.
3) I'd rethink that hypothesis.

1) Correct
2) No, you're severely confused.
3) Yes, Jesus celebrates HIS passover meal a full day EARLY, on the "day of preparation". The gospels are ALL clear that the day of Jesus's death is the day of preparation.
4) None of the Gospels report his passing on the Sabbath. ALL of them report his dying on the "day of preparation", as I just documented.
5) Exactly. Each Gospel says that Jesus dies on the day of Preparation. Jesus can't die on Passover, if he's already dead on the day of preparation. He celebrated HIS passover at the very beginning of the day of Preparation (a radical move). Later that night, he is arrested. Early in the morning he is brought to Pilate. Mark says he is sentenced and nailed to the cross by 9 AM. John says that isn't until noon. BOTH Mark and John say that he dies around 3 PM ON THE DAY OF PREPARATION.

1) Here's your problem. What do you think of Mark 15:42?, right after Jesus dies on the cross - "When it was already evening, since it was the day of preparation, the day before the sabbath"

John has it on the Day of Preparation for Passover.
Mark has it on Passover, the day of preparation for the Sabbath.
You're coming across like it's embarrassing, ludicrous or weird to have Jesus crucified twice in 2 days. I don't see the problem, it DOUBLES the significance of His pain and suffering.

From Wiki:
It has become generally accepted that certain sayings in John are as old or older than their synoptic counterparts. His representation of the topography around Jerusalem is often superior to that of the synoptics, his testimony that Jesus was executed before, rather than on, Passover, might well be more accurate, and his presentation of Jesus in the garden and the prior meeting held by the Jewish authorities are possibly more historically plausible than their synoptic parallels.
Heck, the Mormons (and LOL, the Scientologists!!!!!) have MUCH weirder shit than Jesus getting crucified twice.
And it looks like an interpretation of Matthew, which I just found and will need to study a bit, might imply Jesus was (also?) crucified on Wednesday. Since this would OBVIOUSLY invoke the Trinity, I could see at some point the argument being made that Christ was crucified 3 times.
Them Romans !!! Thorough bunch they are !
