Black people and christianity

RE: Black people and christianity
In the spirit of picking out favorites....it's unlikely that black christians focus on leviticus, of all of the books of the ot.  Genesis and Exodus, more in keeping.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

The whole point of religion is to give the downtrodden something to look forward to.  Something that doesn't cost the power structure a nickle!

Western Christianity like other tools of white supremacy isn't something that can be the throw off like a veil after over half a millennia of it being beaten into you. We are just now a people turning our face towards light. Hearing the chains clink to the ground. Our wounds generational. A pain that phantom in some places and raw with blood in others. You can't expect us to heal in an instant.

Drumpf and his Brownshirts will take care of that.

Don't forget education. Historically black people in most of the world have had lower educational attainment than others, a pattern which is continuing (mostly due to externalities). Education does negatively correlate to religiosity.

Big Grin Book of Racism, Chapter 6, verse 29.  And the Lord said, all black people should be enslaved.

I find it... "funny", for the lack of a better word, how black people worship the same god who allowed them to be enslaved. What's worse, he actually ordered they should be enslaved. I'm guessing they'll end up not exactly in the place they were hoping for when they were alive, lol.  Big Grin

I don't think it's anything new.  Romans colonised and spread Christianity.  Islam is the same, it's fairly popular in Africa.

I do find it really odd that out of the people I know the most Christian Africans are still resentful about colonisation and don't see the link.

One of them found it amazing that my name's Paul and I'm not a Christian, as if once I've been named it's amazing I made an independant decision for myself after that about what to believe in.

Same type of thing with a really strict Muslim I used to know and he'd talk about his Persian ansestors.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.
