To be fair to Protestants this doesn't apply. Why are Catholics of all walks so deferential to the papacy. One apologist has just commented on the popes visit (JP II ) to the uk in the 1980s he said: "it changed his life when he saw the pope kiss the ground, it was such a humble human moment". The clear implication being that as godsmouthpiece on earth he is just a little more than human and it was a pleasant surprise that he could descend to our level. Come on it's not part of catholic dogma yet that the pope is a demi-god, and they all make shit decisions affecting millions of people who suffer for their vanity.
