And... there it is, 2016 just couldn't let us have this one!

I can't believe it...
This is the first time a famous person's death has genuinely saddened me. :/

So Grand moff Tarkin reaches from beyond the grave.
Perhaps it is ill omen to have one's youthful visage resurrected via CGI along with those of a dead actor, while one is yet alive. Carrie fisher didn't exactly have an easy life despite early fame, and showed a diversity of talents not often matched. RIP.
I want to curl up and fucking cry.

Fuck 2016.

Kind of fighting the urge to cry a bit right now too, which is off-putting. Loved her in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. (December 27, 2016 at 2:30 pm)Jello Wrote: I can't believe it... Same here. Star Wars was the center of my childhood. The first movie I remember seeing in my life was a VHS copy of A New Hope. I loved Fisher for her contribution to it, but I respected her as a person as well. Her honestly in regards to her drug use and how she was able to overcome it continues to inspire me to better myself. I just loved the way she carried herself and the way she spoke; she was "Hollywood royalty" but didn't act anything like it. I'll genuinely, sincerely miss her. That's more than I can say for a lot of celebrities.
Can we stop blaming the year? It's really not funny anymore. If she had died on jan 1st, it wouldn't be any less of a loss for her family, friends and fans.
After Alan Rickman, this celebrity passing hits me the hardest. I just saw Rogue one, and I knew it would end with her. I know it wasn't actually her, but it cuts me. She was one of my first female movie heroes, maybe the very first. Her strong portrayal of a princess was inspiring. I remember having her action figure when I was about 8. Her writing talents were amazing, and her honesty and direct humor refreshing, and I know she will be much mourned and missed by millions.

By saying "Fuck 2016" I don't think people are blaming the year, but rather point out how shitty is has been. If she had died on January 1st, I guarantee you people would be saying "and fuck 2017 as well". |
