I miss the professor...
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

I'm very glad theists join our forum. It's good to have lots of different viewpoints, for healthy discussion.

I have noticed however that the majority of theists we get here never leave the religious section of the forum. I think this is a shame, because we only get to see one very narrow side of all such theists, and they only get to see an even narrower side of us atheists. Some theists even suggest the atheists "all agree", which we absolutely do not, if you step into other discussions on the forum. But if you're just addressing theistic issues then of course, by definition, all atheists will agree that they don't believe in any of it.

So I invite you guys to get more involved in the wider community here. Talk about other stuff, and just have fun! We have lots of silly topics as well as serious discussion. It just seems a shame to come here and only trot out religious ideas which we're bound to have seen thousands of times before, when there's so much more each theist could share with us. It doesn't always have to be about butting heads over God.

For those of you who already do this, I appreciate it!

Thanks for reading.

Actually 2 years ago I started posting in the philosophy forum.
After a while I was kicked to the Skepticism & Pseudoscience forum by people who refuse to tell me what
philosophy is all about.
Isn't that bizarre?  Smile

Have you considered joining in a discussion that isn't about yoga/NDEs/God/reincarnation? (And not driving the conversation that way.)

Good one Rob...

I'll start: Rikky, what car do you drive? What's your favourite junk food?

CL, tell me something about yourself that doesn't involve poo or aeroplanes? hehe

Rob, this works both ways.... Rob, even though you're not religious, if you were, which one do you think you'd be attracted to the most?
I quite like the Waco one? That's the one where they can root anybody they want, right? hehe

Hmm, which religion would I be attracted to, do you mean?

Some form of Satanism I think. Because the guy that is normally being worshipped is obviously an evil cunt, so the guy opposing him must be the good one, right?

Heh. I can do this one, too. Definitely some form of Paganism (most likely Wicca). I have a few awesome Pagan friends, and if I had reason to believe in any of that nonsense I'd definitely be attracted to the idea of some forms of it.

Just thought posting in different areas of the forum is an easy New Year resolution. Not like losing weight or taking up running! I definitely encourage people to brave the different sections and take up the challenge.

I think I've said a lot about myself here lol. What else do you want to know specifically that i haven't already mentioned here? I'm an open book! Smile
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
