Would you like to be immortal?

So many places to explore, so many things to do, unlimited fried chicken without risk of heart diseases, unlimited time playing football without injury. Jesus H Christ who would turn down such an offer?! Absolutely brilliant.

Hhmm Pool.  Dodgy

I got a bad news and a good news.
The bad news is that when you are immortal you haven't got a body to eat chickens or to play football.
The good news is that you live in a state of total ecstasy which is millions times better than eat chickens.

You never thought of that Pool, did you?  Bird

Let's say scientists could remove your brain, and you (your brain) would live just as long as you would normally, but for the rest of your life they just connect things up so that your brain feels you are "happy" all the time. It gets short circuited to avoid anything which might ever upset it.

Would you do it, or continue with your life as it is?

That is a NO option Roberto.
Science can do a lot of things but it can not interfere with the degree of your consciousness.
Nature teach us that everything that we acquire come after a struggle.
Nobody can conquer your real and permanent happiness for you.
This is a golden rule.
Your option goes against this rule that is why it doesn't have any sense.  Lightbulb

It seems you're turning down your own offer then, Rik.

You see Roberto your option would be like my idea that you can fly by flapping your arms.

When you got a better idea Rik will consider carefully.
In the meantime back to your usual guessing Banging Head On Desk  and me back to bed  before my night shift.  Hi

You have nostril hairs? Oh, how gorgeous! That's something else I would miss in Rik's world.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

Just your real I.
No food is required to feed a body.
No work is needed to carry on with life.
Just pure peace of mind and total bliss.
Actually you would be God.

Loyalty is an integral part of love. How deep can a love be without loyalty?

Exactly. My loyalty already transcends the grave.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Well I would certainly like to live at least few hundred years, maybe even 1000 years and the only way to achieve that is to invest more in science and not in religion.
People would especially want to live longer if they lived in more interesting world with interstellar travel and solar system being colonized.

What's left? Threats, I suppose. It's not quite as publicly acceptable to just threaten adults these days, so the suspicious looking carrot is all they have left.

Oh. Rantings about morality and cosmic justice also appear.

This is probably the main reason why some versions of hell are so incredibly bad. It's to get people on the religion's side who don't think this god sounds so great, or to convince responsible adults to not just take responsibility for their own sins and accept a just punishment.
