Hope they were not to expensive because their effectiveness is highly questionable. (google name and webMD for a start). These fall under CAM (complementary and alternative medicine).

Just because a doctor promotes them does not make the legit.

If this were my surgeon I'd start looking for another.

Yabut... if I changed doctors every time one sells alternative stuff of questionable effectiveness, I'd be out of doctors to go to in the area in no time.

He didn't sell them. He recommended them to be taken in addition to all the usual drugs you take after surgery. I did some research and a lot of cosmetic surgeons recommend those 2 supplements to help with the healing process after a procedure.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I say this fully knowing that there is allot of charlatanism in this field, however, ask yourself why the pharma industry failed to discover that CBD in cannabis is so effective in treating seizures? If they could have found a treatment that effective that they could patent it, it would have quickly been brought to market.
I'm not even blaming the pharma industry for this. They are there to make a profit and it is not their obligation to study a plant that anyone can grow. (referring here to non illegal plants like ginseng)

So back to Russia. In this case I think that the govt there is probably being paid lots of money by drug companies. While I'm not a fan in general of homeopathy, I would only want the govt to intervene in extreme cases. Other than that, people should be allowed to take stuff that they feel benefit them even if there is no science to back it up. And I'm a science nerd.

Ridiculous.

Do you know how many pharmaceuticals come from investigation of natural occurring chemicals? Examples: digoxin, vinca alkaloids, ACE inhibitors, antibiotics. The list goes on.

Hard to do studies when the DEA jumps the gun makes the plant a schedule one (no medicinal value). That stopped any studies in it's tracks.

And your last paragraph. Didn't Canada have a death when parents treated a sick child with maple syrup? And what of Laetrile?

Quack medicine can kill at worst, at best do nothing (but then lead to morbidity/mortality from doing nothing). And most often drain your finances.

Yup I remember the maple syrup story it was and still is a controversy

That's your problem right there. You listened to a lot of people who solely perform elective surgeries, the vast majority of which have no medicinal value and which are actually harmful.

You listened to not one doctor working to get you better. Tough even with them you generally have to ask "what's the evidential basis?"

Take it easy, Tazzy

Nah maaaaaaan, you just need to smoke some good, all natural herb and eat some quinoa. That will open up your heart chakra. Also you should wear some jade somewhere on your body many studies say jade actually promotes natural, positive thinking and a mood lift! PEACE MAN.
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.

It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love.

Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll

I really don't get the Quinoa hype. The stuff tastes half way between cardboard and styrofoam.

You know which crop tastes great, is super versatile and has unbeatable amounts of protein? Wheat. But nooo, wheat is boring and evil because it has gluten and calories!
