bold mine

Hope they were not to expensive because their effectiveness is highly questionable. (google name and webMD for a start). These fall under CAM (complementary and alternative medicine).

Just because a doctor promotes them does not make the legit.

If this were my surgeon I'd start looking for another.

Yabut... if I changed doctors every time one sells alternative stuff of questionable effectiveness, I'd be out of doctors to go to in the area in no time.

That, my friend, is a very sad commentary.

Yeah, the only medical condition homeopathy is likely to help is 'thirst'.

And swelling of the wallet.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I accept the correction.

When we did our overdose, the - ahem - 'preparations' were in the form of tiny sugar pills. So it can also cure bitter coffee.

Um...this has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've read on this forum in awhile.

Why don't you go ask Steve Jobs how well that works out? I'll go get the ouija board.

In Russia they only allow real poisons.

I say this fully knowing that there is allot of charlatanism in this field, however, ask yourself why the pharma industry failed to discover that CBD in cannabis is so effective in treating seizures? If they could have found a treatment that effective that they could patent it, it would have quickly been brought to market.
I'm not even blaming the pharma industry for this. They are there to make a profit and it is not their obligation to study a plant that anyone can grow. (referring here to non illegal plants like ginseng)

So back to Russia. In this case I think that the govt there is probably being paid lots of money by drug companies. While I'm not a fan in general of homeopathy, I would only want the govt to intervene in extreme cases. Other than that, people should be allowed to take stuff that they feel benefit them even if there is no science to back it up. And I'm a science nerd.

Ridiculous.

Do you know how many pharmaceuticals come from investigation of natural occurring chemicals? Examples: digoxin, vinca alkaloids, ACE inhibitors, antibiotics. The list goes on.

Hard to do studies when the DEA jumps the gun makes the plant a schedule one (no medicinal value). That stopped any studies in it's tracks.

And your last paragraph. Didn't Canada have a death when parents treated a sick child with maple syrup? And what of Laetrile?

Quack medicine can kill at worst, at best do nothing (but then lead to morbidity/mortality from doing nothing). And most often drain your finances.

If a homeopath breaks his femur the MD should order one drop of demerol diluted in a million drops of water.
