My mom is dying, going to need an ear.

RE: My mom is dying, going to need an ear.
She sounds like a wonderful, beautiful person.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Don't Say Goodbye, By Brian37

It started one night
When I left
Just to be silly
To get a smile

Everyone says bye
But it happened one night
Instead I responded
"bicentennial"

It became a game
Between me and my mom
To come up with "bi" sounding words
To each we'd respond

The game was
Not to repeat
Or use each other favorites
As we parted each night

She'd respond
To my "bicentennial"
With "biplane"
And it went on and on

I'd say "bison", but would be in trouble
If I took her two favorites
"Buy one get one free"
Or "Bicarbonate of soda"

But we'd run out
Eventually
Knowing I'd have
To eventually leave

She'd end it with
"Buy dog and cat food"
Knowing I'd make stops
On my way home

Feeling her cold skin
At the funeral home
The vile stiffness
It wont happen again

It was as if
I could wake her up
Just in a sleep
The way they prepped her

I can only find comfort
She's no longer in pain
But I hate that we will never
Play that game again

Bicentennial, biplane bison,
Biped, bicarbonate of soda
Biography, buy one get one free
I love you mom, I'll see you in the morning

My condolences, Brian. It is times like this that make me realize just how lucky Karen and I are to still have all four of our parents still with us.

Emotionally spent still numb. But have been able to talk to several people on the phone this week and since, they have all helped.

The night it happened my alarm went off on my cell phone I had set months ago so I wouldn't miss Full Frontal. My mom had actually called me one night in January to remind me it was on so I wouldn't miss it. I know there isn't an afterlife, but it certainly would be comforting if that really were mom saying "I am still with you". I have her in my memory that is for sure and that alarm is bittersweet.

No matter how old we are when it happens, losing a parent orphans us, and it's always too soon. I'm so sorry you have to suffer losing your mom, Brian. I think she would be proud of you and the way you remember her. I wish I could have done what you're doing now for your mother for my own mom.

RE: My mom is dying, going to need an ear.
My mom is so giving and thoughtful, even with my neighbor whom she never met. I think I blew up one day at someone here over Trump's campaign and pandering to bigots. My neighbors on both sides are Hispanics. I think it was a month or so ago, my neighbors were having a BBQ and I joked, "do you have some food for me?" I went in side not thinking anything of it, and a couple hours later I got a knock on the door and they gave me a plate of food.

This cuts to the core of how thoughtful my mom is. Mom's response to me telling her that was "You need to get them something in return to thank them". I did try I bought them a 6 pack of beer, turned out they don't drink but the point is my mom is very thoughtful.

I want to do something for her that will be as giving as long as possible for others the way she gives to me and is as thoughtful.
