RE: Debate: God Exists

I am curious as to how some people can claim that it is more plausible that God exists. What method does one use to assess the probability of God's existence?
The problem I have with this is that the existence of some kind of mind that exists independently of the universe, at least right now, seems to be something we cannot even investigate in principle, and so far, we have shown that some deities CANNOT exist, like the deity who created the world 6000 years ago. The Christian God can be shown to be false. However, not a single God can be shown to be true, and the only evidence we have indicates that it MIGHT be possible that there is SOME kind of god. Just like it might be possible that Russel's teapot exists.
Far from being able to demonstrate god's existence, one could make the argument that god is nothing more than a logically incoherent concept.

Same here. I'd post mine, but it's not allowed outside of the 18+ areas.

If you say you don't believe that Richie did the murder, is that saying you believe Eddie did it?
No. It's saying that a murder was committed and it deserves an investigation, not an 'I donno'.
Correct, except 'I donno' is still not an accurate description. The position is, as you say, 'let's investigate'. And just because one suspect might not be proven to be guilty doesn't automatically convict the other. That would still need a separate investigation.
So with all that down, how would you go about demonstrating your case?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

There were many theories that tied things together: land bridges, phologistrom etc but they failed when they didn't bring proof to the table and were bested by better evidence for competing theories.

There is also the problem that the only way to get to intelligence is to evolve, so we would require an entirely separate dimension peopled by fucking proto gods in a competitive environment suitable for the development of intelligence.
In short, one god is less likely that a breeding population.
And all that was supposed to happen in a region that is supposed to have no time material or special dimensions, I find all that rather unlikely.

Er, no they don't. I'm going to assume that was a joke.

No kidding. David Mitchell is way too smart to be Drich.
Drich is rather like this character though:
^^^But this character still has way too much intellect^^^
