Couple gets prison time for racist threats at child’s birthday party

Frankly, in a country where we put away people for longer for victimless crimes, I have a hard time finding sympathy for people who threatened other people, children no less, with a deadly weapon over the color of their skin.  Put the motherfuckers under the prison for all I care.

Yes, what they did was disgusting and wrong and they will be punished for it.

The worlds is strange when I find myself in agreement with Pool, PaulPablo and Bella.

Perhaps that's a good thing - it means we have some commonalities and shared values.

So let me add my voice to this:

Little Lunch et al, the convicts pointed loaded weapons at children for the intent of terrorizing them. If one of them stumbled or reacted suddenly, they might have murdered a child.

They invaded a party with the express intent of causing harm. The express intention of causing fear.

They basically did the equivalent of a stalker hunting down a woman, holding a gun to her throat and saying "I could rape you, but I won't".

Is 13 years too long? Possibly, but that's why we have parole boards. And appeals. And judges who can interpret the Law and set the penalties.

Save your sympathy for someone else. These convicts earned their prison and wilfully participated in a dangerous attack that had it's participants (young children!) honestly question if they're about to die.

The jury clearly felt they were so outrageous, so unrepentant, so hateful that they threw the book at them. It says a lot.

I understand why you expected another answer, most likely some typical loyalist one about taigs or something, right? I have had controversial views on a number of topics, including the Northern Ireland issue, but I do not want to see innocent people harassed, hurt or even killed, regardless of what political affiliation they or their family belongs to.

Our past differences aside, I sincerely applaud the sentiment.

well, they get an hour a day outside their cells, IIRC. As well, maybe there's opportunity for a job in the prison. Frankly, for me, if I were imprisoned, the worst thing for me would be 1) being watched by cameras and 2) dealing with guards' personalities (which might not even be as bad as it seems).

3) Finding yourself in a position where a significant portion of the population treats you the same way you treated the people at the party.

I doubt it though, they'll probably just join the "Aryan Brotherhood" or something.

As we say around here, prison is a school. You learn alot in there. Heh, I rehabilitated from my victymless crimes.

If I understand you correctly, you're arguing for this crime being victimless - is that right? That would be on the same lines as saying an armed holdup is victimless unless anybody gets hurt of killed.
