I liked it, though the comic is better. Loads of movie critics hated it, and I felt they were being a bit unfair. But then that's what people say about me when I criticize Avatar.

Avatar was mindless but extremely entertaining.
'We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart.' H.L. Mencken
'False religion' is the ultimate tautology.
'It is just like man's vanity and impertinence to call an animal dumb because it is dumb to his dull perceptions.' Mark Twain
'I care not much for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it.' Abraham Lincoln

As far as Avatar goes, all the special effects (which were, admittedly, jaw-dropping) couldn't erase the fact that even the cartoon tree-hugging movie from 1992, Ferngully, had a better plot and more compelling characters.

Were it not for the 3D and the LSD Avatar would have been a miserable experience.

completely agree. The whole movie could have been 20 minuets long were it not for the overused scenic shots, some of which created 10 minuet gaps between any dialogue.
As a side note, James Cameron on Oprah was quite funny, especially his trying to tell her, without offending her, that the whole spiritual/unified nature aspect of the movie was intended to be fiction and that he doesn't think for a second that our planet is actually alive, or any of the other bullshit 'reading way too fucking much into it' shit she got out of it.

While slightly vindictive and always sarcastic, I'm rarely vicious. However, that movie sparked a very ugly side in me and when I heard that some people were "in despair" because they would never be able to live on Pandora and had started online support groups and were considering suicide to be "reborn" there, I was right there handing out the razor blades. I consider it a matter of survival - either I help them off themselves first, or I'll be the one shooting my own brains out listening to that bullshit and since I actually have plans to help humanity instead of sitting in my basement whining that I'll never see a fictional phosphorus fern, I'm choosing me.
Oprah is a completely different argument for a completely different week.
But, we digress.
Religious people and papers, yes. Well, that also makes me want to shoot brains out, just not my own.

Hahaha really? that's completely fucking insane, who the fuck would want to live on a planet where we spend all day worshipping a tree and using our sexual organs to ride horses?

Ah, well, just like some people need an invisible man in the sky to make everything more wondrous, apparently some people can't find beauty enough here on earth, I guess.... Let's not forget that moving there means no plumbing or iPods. I for one cannot live without my AC/DC, so fuck Pandora.

I'd also like to point out that on geekologie I was presented with Hustler's version of Avatar and now I am completely and utterly ruined for the original just based on how dirty I now feel.

Since it's a christian church that sent out this message, I meant 70%~ of thhe people worldwide don't believe in the same God as the Christian God.
And those people are at it again. They were outside our school again. There's more to it, but this one part was interesting. Read this:
"What is the cause of all these life's incessant calamities and fears? It is because of the sins of men and the fierce wrath of God against them. It's up to you, please praise the graceful Lord, and the horrid calamities will vanish."
They were around my High School and the Jr. High school near it. I think it's a waste of paper.
