If Donald Trump can invent several hundred thousand people for his inauguration in an era when people can easily fact-check this whole thing, I see no reason Paul can't invent a crowd of 500 people seeing Jesus in the weeks after the resurrection in an era when the technology didn't exist to verify such claims.
