I owned an insurance brokerage and thanks to that elder drivers now scare the shit out of me. By elder I mean above 70.
Older drivers don't cause that many crashes, but that's only because of the limited amount they drive. On a per mile driven basis, they are the most dangerous group out there. This is sad because they need access to cars to maintain independence since they often have problems with mobility. I'm really looking forward to self driving cars by the time I hit that stage. There's some cellphone videos of the guy being hauled to a cop car. He couldn't even walk on his own two feet, let alone drive a car. EDIT: Though he apparently panicked and ran away after the accident.
