Texting and Driving

Texting and Driving
I was forced on to the shoulder today by a texter. Glad I saw it coming but it really pissed me off.

Us non cell people are allowed the ultimate in self righteous indignation. Why doesn't KIA have a blow horn option???

Just curious, do you text/cell and drive, even if considered illegal where you live?

I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

I rarely text anywhere.  If someone has something to say they can call me.

Never! I pull over. Of course I can not chew gum and walk at the same time:

If I'm driving and I get a call I either pull over or let it ring.

There are enough idiots on the road without texters making it worse.

Not a driver, but a few weeks ago I was in the CBD in Wellington and saw someone walking while texting, and everyone was getting out of his way since he wasn't paying any attention to those around him. I was on a direct line for him and kept walking.

Ended up shoulder barging him as he (tried to) walk through me.

Amazing how such things are YOUR fault.

Told him he should pay attention to where he's fucking walking or, if he was so determined to text while walking, he should do it in a bus lane...

My sister has totaled 3 cars like this and somehow she hasn't had her license taken away. I will text at stop lights, hell I even post on the forum at stop lights. But when I'm driving my eyes are on the road. I am guilty of using Siri to text while driving but I don't have to look away from the road to do that.

I seldom mess with my phone when I drive, but I do keep a few rocks in the console of the truck and the car in case someone that does fails to notice me. That'll get their attention.

I was cut off by a texter not too long ago and I was shocked to see that he was 100 years old. Never expected that guy to be texting at all let alone while driving.

RE: Texting and Driving
I do not text and drive, and I've made exactly one call while driving- legal, called 911 to report a fire. I didn't want to stop next to the fire to call it in. I used to car pool, and my car pool buddy was texting (not the first time) and came within inches of rear-ending someone on the freeway. I told him that that was the last time I was riding with him. There are enough people driving any kind of stupid; there's no point in being in a car where the driver is 100% that way, it just increases one's odds of getting hurt. I got hit and run on my bicycle back in November, fortunately just hit the handlebar, and I wasn't even knocked down (just into the curb, and managed to catch myself). As a result, I quit riding my bike. I've had many other close calls, that was just the final one. I suspect that the person who hit me probably didn't even realize that it had happened. The signal was too far ahead for this old man to make a pursuit and get the license plate information. Sad

So, you made the call while fleeing the scene of the crime?

Watch the Russian dash cam videos on Youtube. Woman walks into the side of a moving trolley, midway down. She then turns and walks along the trolley, without taking her eyes off the phone. There's another trolley coming up behind her, she's oblivious.

Guy on motorcycle is reading/texting and hits a stopped car in front of him. He lands in front of the car, head first.

It just goes on...
