You do have a good point here.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

If that was/is for real (I thought it was a joke) I probably wouldn't go in there either. I'd feel insulted... like having negative assumptions made about me before I even set foot in the door... that I couldn't do it of my own volition without some monetary incentive. Sod that... I'd find somewhere else.

Everyone who claims they'd take their business elsewhere never do.

They only make that claim as a threat to get their way, because they think they're snowflake customers.

What are you talking about? People take their business elsewhere all the time, for any number of reasons.
It happens.

The sign's not a rude awakening in my, view; it's just stupid. I already know to say ''please and 'thank you', and don't need some butt-hurt coffee shop owner not-so-passively admonishing me for shit I haven't even done, before I even hit the door. THAT's what's rude (and quite unwelcoming), in my book.

Nah...fuck that. I'd just go somewhere else.

Meh. Being polite costs nothing. I avoid folks who are rude as I don't have time for them, be it at work or in my social circles. Of course sometimes you have to encounter rude people at work, but often they want something from me and not the other way around, so if they piss me off I can put them to the back of the pile. Lol, maybe that's rude too. Oh well.

I'm not usually bothered by rude people. I usually assume there's something there that I'm not seeing. Maybe they're having a terrible day and they don't even realize they're being rude. I feel like there are far worse things in life than someone saying "small coffee" instead of "may I have a small coffee please". Everyone needs something to complain about I suppose.

Can't they just spit in the coffee of rude customers, like normal baristas?

A famous German chef said in an interview I saw that he is always always very polite towards waiters, and never complains about the food, because he doesn't like to have spit or worse on it the next time Big Grin

Yeah, I'd probably pass and go somewhere else. This is like the real life Seinfeld soup Nazi episode.

While I like to be polite, its not the job of a coffeehouse or similar establishment to educate people. If you are worried about politeness and good manners, then you shouldnt be in the commercial business.
