Fucking cowards. Where were they six months ago? A year ago? If inciting an insurrection is the standard, then Twitter is a shit organization.

If I recall correctly, the only reason they kept it up for so long (at least their stated reason) was that they believed (and I'm quoting the reason they gave in the announcement here, although it's been stated multiple places before) "Our public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open."

Also, just hidden at the end: 

Plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on January 17, 2021.

In a way, I suppose the Trump ban is good news for Melania - it means her anti-bullying campaign is showing some results.

I suppose this thread will officially be obsolete in 11 days, but I have to say that I don't believe for a second that the terrorist organization Trump has created will dissipate anytime soon. I expect them to continue to organize, protest, riot and possibly disrupt future elections. I wouldn't be surprised if they showed up at voting centers to threaten people of color. This group needs to be thoroughly investigated and held to account. All these years we've been battling terrorists abroad; the most dangerous group is right here.

I fully expect them to attempt to take over government offices and to attempt to assassinate government officials. We *know* they planned to do such in Michigan. Why would anyone think they will stop?

These groups need to be uncovered, arrested, convicted, and jailed.

No that was a bullshit excuse back then. The only reason Twitter didn't ban Trump is because the company bosses thought hed make the platform profitable.
